Shiv Sena did NOT allow Nawazuddin Siddiqui to act in a play because he is a MUSLIM! This year doesn’t seem to be going good for actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui. Just last week he was accused by his sister-in-law that Nawaz tortured her physically and hit her while she was three months pregnant. And just when Nawaz and his spokesperson refuted all such stories, he has landed up in another controversy. Here’s what happened.. Nawazuddin was in his hometown – Muzaffarnagar where he was going to be performing in a play for the first time. Nawaz was playing the role of Mareech in Ramleela and it had always been a dream for the actor to be a part of the play. However, Shiv Sena workers objected against a Muslim being a part of Ramleela and asked him to step down.
Mukesh Sharma, who is the district head of Shiv Sena there approached police and asked the committee to drop Nawazuddin from participating in the show. “Our objection is with his name as well as the person. His sister-in-law has filed a case against him. He is trying to use this role to get back his social prestige. We will not allow this. For over 50 years, no Muslim has been a part of the production. Why should this be allowed now? We went to the police and our members went around town to spread the word and urge people to stop this,” he says.
