Ranbir Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil off to a great start, maintains 40 per cent occupancy in the morning shows

Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Anushka Sharma and Fawad Khan‘s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil was one of the most anticipated films of the year and it finally released today. People were eager to see Karan Johar’s most ambitious film and initial reports seem good. In fact, people are flocking to the theatres to see the movie. Yes, we ain’t kidding. Initial occupancy figures suggest that Ae Dil Hai Mushkil has opened to a very good occupancy of 40 per cent pan India.
In fact, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil has opened very strongly in the multiplexes as compared to the single screens. We always knew that ADHM was more of an urban, multiplex film and looks like we have been proved right once again. As trade expert Akshaye Rathi (exhibitor and distributor) revealed to us EXCLUSIVELY, “Morning shows traditionally happen in the multiplexes and single screens, usually, start shows at 12 in the noon. Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is clearly a multiplex film. Ae Dil Hai Mushkil has started off very well across multiplexes and it should post a fairly good number on day one, considering it has released two days before Diwali. Ae Dil Hai Mushkil across India in the morning shows has had an occupancy of 40 per cent. It is pretty good for the morning shows. ”
From what we hear, Ranbir Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan‘s film has managed to garner nearly 3000 screens. And with a 40 per cent occupancy in the morning shows, we are sure Ae Dil Hai Mushkil will easily collect in excess of Rs 12 crore. And with a good word of mouth publicity flowing for the film, we may see the movie witnessing a jump in the occupancies during the evening show. This would mean it could earn well above Rs 15 crore on day one too. That would be great, wouldn’t it?
Ae Dil Hai Mushkil has been made on a budget of Rs 100 crore and according to our estimates, the film might easily touch the Rs 50 crore mark over the weekend if the people continue to like the movie. Trade expert and Editor of Super Cinema, Amul Vikas Mohan also agrees with us when he mentioned to us EXCLUSIVELY, “I feel that Ae Dil Hai Mushkil can make Rs 50-75 crore over the weekend. The film can easily collect Rs 12-13 crore on day one (Friday), Rs 15 crore on day two (Saturday) and Rs 16 crore on day three. This means the film will have collected nearly Rs 45 crore over the weekend, These are the bare minimum numbers and any of these films can pick up after Friday and on Saturday we can see a huge growth, so the film can easily earn Rs 50-75 crore over the weekend.”
For those who haven’t watched the movie yet, let me inform you that people are raving about Ranbir’s performance and Aishwarya’s sizzling makeover. The movie, which is about unrequited love, also shows a love triangle between Aishwarya, Ranbir and Anushka Sharma. We also see Fawad Khan, Imran Abbas Naqvi, Shah Rukh Khan, Alia Bhatt and Lisa Haydon in the movie too.
