Shah Rukh Khan won’t shoot with Raees co star Mahira Khan – here’s why

Shah Rukh Khan won’t shoot with Raees co star Mahira Khan – here’s why The recent ban on the working of Pakistani artists in India is taking a new turn each passing day. While political parties in Maharashtra including Raj Thackeray’s MNS, have demanded a ban on working of these actors, our Indian filmmakers are now in a fix. They are definitely not in a position to re shoot the complete movie and replace Pakistani actor with someone else. Keeping their problems and issues in mind, Indian Motion Picture Producers Association (IMPAA), announced yesterday that Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees and Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil will get a go ahead inspite of the ban since the movie was already shot before but for the rest of the movies, filmmakers are advised not to cast anyone from our neighbouring country.
We were sure SRK would be delighted after hearing this news, however there is something that is still bothering him. Raees’s shooting is still not complete. Opening sequences of Shah Rukh Khan and Mahira Khan are yet to be shot together without which the movie can’t release. The movie was slated to release in January next year hence it was obvious that makers didn’t rush to finish their shoot. After shooting for certain scenes earlier this year, SRK got busy with other movies including Alia Bhatt’s Dear Zindagi and Anushka Sharma’s The Ring. He was supposed to shoot remaining portions of Raees in November once he returns for the promotions of Gauri Shinde’s next directorial (Dear Zindagi), however the recent ban has complicated all the scenario.
A report in a leading tabloid suggests that, while SRK can still shoot his scenes in Mumbai, it is difficult to get Mahira here. The makers will now have to shoot with her in some foreign location. The problem will only come for the song sequence which requires them both. Earlier this year, SRK and Mahira had shot for the film in Gujarat, followed by a schedule in Mumbai where King Khan was spotted riding a classic jeep with the 33-year-old-actress sitting besides him holding a baby in her arms.
Ashoke Pandit, Vice President of IMPPA posted the letters on his Twitter handle yesterday submitted to PM Narendra Modi requesting to cancel the work permits of Pakistani technicians, actors and singers. He also posted the request letters submitted to Shiv Sena and MNS appealing to save film industry from losses by not obstructing the release of films that were met with threats. So while he has given a green signal to these movies, he aims to make this temporary ban on Pakistani artists, a permanent one in future.
