Ajay Devgn’s Shivaay will earn Rs. 7 crore on day 1
Ajay Devgn's Shivaay is expected to earn 7 crore on its opening day as opposed to the predicted 12. 5 crore.
The big Diwali clash is here with Ae Dil Hai Mushkil taking over Shivaay at the box office. It
was one clash nobody could avoid. Shivaay and ADHM makers tried what
they could to avoid the clash but it wasn’t meant to be. The films
released and now we have an idea of how the two films fared at the box
office. We told you about the occupancy percentage of both the films.
ADHM raced ahead in the morning shows with 40 percent opening while
Shivaay made do with 25 percent only. Now if we talk about the first day
earnings, we spoke to our trade expert Amul Vikas Mohan, Editor Super
Cinema, to give us an idea of how much is Shivaay looking at in terms of
first day collection.
Talking about Shivaay’s collection, Mohan said, “Opening of Shivaay is slightly disappointing right now as far as the morning shows are concerned. According to the current trends right now, the movie is likely to be in the zone of around 7 crore on Day 1. Again it’s a non-holiday release. But in single screens where we thought the movie would be really appreciated, it started very slowly. It can be disturbing if this trend continues over the weekend or the second half of the day. 7 crore is not the number you should be opening with a film like this. But it’s early in the day and anything can happen. As of now the opening is slightly on the disappointing side. However I feel that the film has enough to garner very decent number.”
Hopes aren’t lost yet as the night shows can fetch Ajay Devgn’s film some more numbers which will only add to its tally. Previously, it was expected to earn nearly 12. 5 cr on the opening day but guess the mixed reviews have spoiled its chances a lot. Amul had said then, “Friday is a non-holiday. So on such a day, you can expect around 25 crore, a cumulative amount for both the films. Even though Friday isn’t a holiday, the spirit of it is around. Kids have holidays because of Diwali. It can go up to 30 cr as well but 25 crore is the bare minimum for the both movies to do. So it will be a race between them. If it’s 25 cr, we are ideally looking at 12.5 crore each for day 1. It will be very close.” But this may not work anymore with the way Shivaay is getting response from the audience. Ajay Devgn’s Shivaay will earn Rs. 7 crore on day 1
