Karan Johar debunks the misconceptions about Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's role in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil

In a candid conversation at JIO MAMI Movie Mela, today, Karan Johar and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan finally responded to the fuss around Aishwarya’s bold scenes with Ranbir Kapoor in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. Much to our surprise he revealed that there is not a single kissing scene in the movie, forget a love making scene!
Putting all the rumours to rest, Karan said, “… you never once look at it and question it for it’s supposed lack of decency because it is always so elegant…What was brilliant about Aishwarya was that she is a true artist in that way and having worked with the west and also having travelled the zone, she knows what a film’s requirement is.There is no kissing in this film. There is no skin show in this film. It’s the attitude you are reacting to actually. There is nothing. There was much to do of some cuts being made. There is no censor cut on the Aishwarya track. Let me specify that. Infact the censor understood the essence of the film.” Woa..Looking at the promos and the songs, this statement definitely comes as a huge shocker (and spoiler for some)!

Karan spoke at length about how he was never apologetic about Sabah’s character (played by Aishwarya) be it during its inception or while narrating the role to the actress.”What you see (in the song Bulleya) is just a glimpse of that character… Not for a second was I apologetic about it. Even to tell her (Aishwarya) or ask her there was no aankh ki sharam like when you are embarrassed to tell someone,” he added. He feels Sabah is his strongest female character by far and she is a woman of substance in every which way.
He was always confident about the fact that Aishwarya will bring in the dignity in the portrayal of the character. “She (Aishwarya) has done it with a certain amount of conviction and that’s why it’s showing up the way it is…There is no skin show that is overtly out there, there is not even a lip-lock. It’s just in the eyes and the attitude,” he said.
Aishwarya concluded the matter by saying,”I have done it, there couldn’t be.”
