Movies this week: Shivaay, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil

The BLOCKBUSTER Friday will soon be upon us with two of the biggest films testing their fate at the Diwali box office. They will jostle for spaces in audience’s hearts. The stage is set for the battle and before you decide who to consider for your Diwali weekend screening, let us tell you what they have promised to you till now.
Film: Shivaay
Director: Ajay Devgn
Star cast: Ajay Devgn, Erika Kaar, Sayyeshaa Saigal
Synopsis: Shivaay is a man who is as innocent as any other who loves his family. He adores his sweet little daughter. She is his life. But this innocent man can transform into a savage killer when his family is threatened. And at one time something really disheartening happens to his life and that changes everything for this mountaineer.
Why watch it? We shouldn’t be spelling it out to you but since it’s our job, we will still tell you. Shivaay will be something you haven’t seen on the big screen ever again. The trailer showed us what we are going to experience. Brilliant is the word but it sounds more like an understatement now. It will be a spectacle we will remember all our lives and we have Ajay Devgn to thank for this. Grand and gallant! Also, Ajay returns to direction after a long time which makes it even more interesting. U Me Aur Hum was a film we love to watch every time it is aired on TV and that makes us believe, Shivaay will leave a deep impact in us.
Film: Ae Dil Hai Mushkil
Director: Karan Johar
Star cast: Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Anushka Sharma, Fawad Khan
Synopsis: It’s all about unrequited love. Alizeh, Ayan and Saba are linked with each other with one strong emotion – love.
Why watch it? It’s Karan Johar and his interpretation of love. Don’t we still quote Kuch kuch hota hai Rahul, tum nahi samjhoge” to people even today? We do and we will always do. They might sound silly now but we still don’t care. We can’t believe now that we loved Kuch Kuch Hota Hai which the director himself called silly. Ae Dil Hai Mushkil will thus be a KJo love story about not getting the person we love that we would love to watch, no questions asked. We have all been there…each and every one of us and thus this film is extremely identifiable. Then there’s the hot chemistry between Ranbir Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. They have sizzled from teaser to the trailer to the songs to the cover of a magazine. Now, we just want this chemistry in motion, PERIOD!
