Salman Khan’s Sultan bought for Rs 55 cr by Sony Entertainment Television
Salman Khan's Sultan's satellite rights have been bought by Sony Entertainment Television for Rs 55 crores as per reports!
Talking about Salman Khan, the episode where he featured on The Kapil Sharma Show got one of the highest TRPs. The channel can now earn from the multiple screenings across its sub channels. We know the impact of Salman Khan on TV. His Bajrangi Bhaijaan premiere on Star Gold and Star Gold HD brought in huge profits for the channel. It aired last year in December and got the highest TRPs ever beating the record held by Aamir Khan’s 3 Idiots. It got a TRP of 15.5. The channel has created a 360 degree advertising campaign to build up the hype for the premiere. We are sure Sony TV will also gave some plans for marketing this film. The channel has been on a major makeover mode this year. We had a bouquet of new shows that topped online TRP charts as well as The Kapil Sharma Show.
In February 2016, Salman Khan broke his own record at the TV box office. Sooraj Barjatya’s Prem Ratan Dhan Payo got a TRP of 16.6 much more than Bajrangi Bhaijaan. It also aired on Star Gold HD. It seems like Sony TV paid a huge moolah to bag this deal ahead of Star Gold. And the profits are already pouring in.
Sultan along with Rajinikanth’s Kabali were the money spinners for the Indian box office in the month of July this year. It made Rs 300 crore at the Indian ticket windows and Rs 570 cr on a global scale. It was the third film after Aamir Khan’s PK and Salman’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan to touch that mark.
While very few might not have watched Sultan in theatres, we are sure there are millions wanting to see Bhai’s wrestling chops with the family at home. Stay tuned for more updates on BollywoodLife….
