This actor was Jayalalithaa’s first and last Bollywood co-star – Find out who

Jayalalithaa, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister since 1991 passed away on December 5 at 11;30pm. She was suffering from a prolonged lung infection, that had started to interfere with her health two months ago. Her condition was almost back to normalcy when she suffered a cardiac arrest on Sunday, 4th December. She had a surgery the following day but her condition remained grave. A team of the world’s best doctors were flown in to look into her condition, every possible health measure had been meted out. Tamil Nadu has lost an important leader.  it’s a void that can’t be filled. She was an inspiring personality that did so much for her people and her state. Did you know she was a well known artists as well? Yes, she was a famous actress before she entered politics. She was the first one to wear sleeveless blouses and skirts in cinema. She has even worked in an English film called Epistle. Surprisingly, she has worked only in one film in Bollywood – Izzat and guess who her co-star was? He was the Veeru of Sholay, yes we are talking about Dharmendra! He played a double role in the same film. He played two sons of an  arrogant father, out of which one of the sons falls in love with a tribal girl. The tribal girl was played by none other Jayalalithaa. She played a spunky, bubbly, care-a-damn character. Although the movie didn’t fare well and sank without a trace, a particular song from the same movie created a lot of noise, courtesy Jayalalithaa’s graceful dance.
Dharmendra while speaking to Quint revealed that the late TN CM  was quite unlike her character – Quiet, graceful and slightly reserved.  “She was very quiet, very graceful and only focused on her work. She didn’t speak much on the sets. And we all respected her privacy. In the film, she played a chirpy, bubbly character similar to what Hema played in Sholay many years later. But in person she was quite the opposite. Very dignified, graceful and quiet.”
Here’s that song that created a lot of noise. She danced like a dream. Jayalalithaa was not just a political leader. She was a shining personality that inspired people and will continue to so do even today…
