Another year has gone by, and I am yet to understand whether it has been good to Bollywood or not. I
mean there were some pretty good movies this year, like Dangal, Kapoor
& Sons, Udta Punjab, Pink, Airlift. There have been women that were
female oriented like Neerja and Dear Zindagi
which still worked well at the box office. But the issue is that only a
handful of movies worked at the box office, while the rest of them
barely managed to break even or were complete duds. It was also a year
where neither sequels nor sex comedies, both genres a safe bet at the
box office, failed to work at the box office. Why we are still to find
out why Kattappa killed Baahubali, as the sequel for the movie has been
postponed to next year.
But then there was Sultan, the Salman Khan-starrer who nearly dethroned Aamir Khan’s 2014 movie PK as the highest grosser ever. But Dangal that released around this Christmas is all set to give PK a scare, unless demonetisation spoils its party.
2016 was also the year of breakups, divorces and for people who seek good news, baby births. It was also a year when Censor Board, led by the Modi bhakt Pahlaj Nihalani, was at its confused best. But the good thing was Pahlaj Nihalani found pleasure where everyone else found torture – A Flying Jatt.
I can talk more and more about how 2016 has been, but I would just let these memes do the job…

But the star who ruled Bollywood in 2016 was of course, Salman Khan! The first poster of his Sultan made huge buzz albeit for wrong reasons…
Of course, the biggest blockbuster of the year also had the gumption to show his real paunch…
His cycling stunt with Shah Rukh Khan also didn’t go unnoticed
The man again courted controversy when he was appointed as the Goodwill ambassador for Rio Olympics, and all hell broke loose on Twitter…
It was also the year of breakups and divorces, the maximum headline grabber being Ranbir – Katrina split…
And there were the annual Cannes fashion blunders, when Ash turned up like this, this year…

Torrents lovers (basically 90% of Earth’s population) were shocked when Torrentz and Kickass Torrents were shut down…only for mirror sites to pop up again!
The helmer of DDLJ released his fourth movie that was the exact opposite of his debut movie…
PokemonGo was a huge craze in between, till everyone realised they had a life too, and office as well!
