5 records of Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan that Aamir Khan’s Dangal FAILED to overcome

Aamir Khan’s Dangal set the box office on fire as it released on December 23. People were eager to watch Dangal since the start of the year and as it released, the movie set the cash registers ringing. Movie lovers flocked to the theatres early in the morning, giving the movie an opening occupancy of 60-70 per cent, which grew slightly by the end of the day. This enabled the movie to collect a massive Rs 29.78 crore on day 1. Aamir Khan also got his biggest opening courtesy Dangal, as it beat the opening day collection of P.K. (Rs 26.63 crore). However, there are 5 records of Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan that Aamir Khan’s Dangal couldn’t break. Here’s the list:
Biggest opener of 2016
Aamir Khan’s Dangal failed to BEAT Salman Khan’s Sultan as the biggest opener of 2016. Sultan had collected Rs 36.54 crore as compared to Dangal’s Rs 29.78 crore.
Highest opening day collection ever
As we told you, Dangal could only manage to collect Rs 29.78 crore on day one, which is way lesser than the opening day collection of Shah Rukh Khan’s Happy New Year (Rs 44.97 crore).
Highest overseas opener
Aamir Khan’s Dangal opened very well at the overseas market as it collected Rs 11.41 crore on day 1. However, it couldn’t cross the highest overseas opening day collection of Dilwale, which stands at Rs 22.61 crore.
Highest opening day collection for a sports based films
Aamir Khan’s Dangal couldn’t become the highest opener for a sports based film. Though, it has easily surpassed the likes of Chak De! India, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (Rs 9 crore approx), Mary Kom (Rs 8.4 crore) and M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story (Rs 21.30 crore), it couldn’t beat Salman Khan’s Sultan (Rs 36.54 crore)
Highest occupancy of 2016
Dangal again failed to BEAT Salman Khan’s Sultan. Aamir’s film opened with an occupancy of 60-70 per cent on day 1. However, Sultan’s opening day occupancy of 80-90 per cent is still the highest for 2016.
These records aside, Dangal is still managing to perform fabulously at the box office. The film has managed to hold  audience on day 2 also and we expect the movie to add another Rs 27-30 crore on Saturday. The people are loving the movie and are raving about everyone’s performance in the film, especially Aamir Khan.
