There were quite a few shockers that came our way. Check out the top 5
actors of 2016 and be ready for some not so predictable revelations…
Akshay Kumar
Box office: Rs. 364.73 cr
Are you even surprised to see Akshay Kumar on the top of this list? Coz we are not! He deserves every bit of it. With Airlift, Housefull 3 and Rustom, he has not only set the box office on fire but has also exhibited different shades of his acting talent. This is one man everyone in Bollywood should take notes from. He doesn’t believe in making one 200 crore film. He would rather have three releases a year and make all of them work. How many actors can claim such a thing?
Salman Khan
Box office: Rs. 300.45 cr
It’s a given that Salman Khan will be in the top 5 actors list every year. Ever since his films started minting money like crazy, he has never been off this list. But Sultan is different. The actor has come out of his comfort zone to be part of this film. He had to do a lot to get into the shape of a wrestler. He had to do complicated exercises to get the desired body. It took a toll on him but he didn’t get daunted by it. Resultant? Fans showered him with love. It’s the best time to be Salman Khan, we must say.
Aamir Khan
Box office: Rs. 155.5 cr and counting
When Aamir Khan is headlining the cast of your movie, that can only mean two things – it has quality, and it has all the potential to be the next highest top grosser. Dangal has not only wowed the critics, it has also made the public go gaga over the finely directed wrestling biopic, based on Mahavir Singh Phogat and his daughters, Geeta and Babita. Aamir Khan also delivers his finest performance of this decade in the movie, and there are chances that Dangal can topple Sultan as the highest grosser of 2016, and perhaps even top PK’s lifetime collections.
Shah Rukh Khan
Box office: Rs. 152.04 cr
Shah Rukh Khan is in the fourth spot which is a shocker. It’s all because of the bad performance of Fan. A film which could become the best one of 2016, turned out to be a colossal disappointment. But then it’s hardly his fault. The film and the director failed him. Fortunately, Dear Zindagi’s good haul at the box office, helped him secure a position in this list.
Sushant Singh Rajput
Box office: Rs.133. 04 cr
Surprised? Well, get over it then. Sushant Singh Rajput should thank Mahendra Singh Dhoni for giving him the best film in his career so far. The actor was so convincing as our beloved Indian Captain that the film became one of the highest grossers 2016. That’s the power of Mahi!
So can you see your favourite star in this tally?
