Deepika Padukone offers condolences to family of Mukesh Dakia, painter who died on sets of Padmavati
Mukesh Dakia succumbed to a head injury on the sets of Padmavati
In a very sad news, a painter has died on the sets of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati. He
fell on his back while giving final touch to a tomb on sets, from a
height of 5ft, and suffered major injuries on his head. He succumbed to
his injuries, and was declared dead by Kokilaben hospital on Friday. Deepika Padukone
offered condolences to the family of the deceased on her Twitter. She
wrote, “shocked and saddened by the news…may his soul rest in peace and
my most sincere condolences to his family.”
A senior police officer from Aarey Colony police station that the victim’s name is Mukesh Dakia, aged 34. After suffering the injury Mukesh was immediately rushed to Kokilaben Hospital, but Dakia was declared dead on arrival. Police have registered a case of accidental death and are investigating the matter.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Ranveer Singh, and Shahid Kapoor are yet to comment on the tragic news. But Amit Ray & Subrata Chakraborty, the Art Directors on the film said, “Padmavati’s sets are completely equipped with the best security measures, this includes workers wearing belts, helmets and harness, despite all of this, no one could foresee such a rare occurrence and unfortunate accident.”
Shobha Sant, CEO of Bhansali Productions, added, “What took place was extremely unfortunate and completely unforeseen. We are making every effort to facilitate everything with the authorities. Our support and prayers are with deceased’s family in this time of grief.”
Recently, two stuntmen drowned on the sets of a Kannada film Mashtigudi while shooting for a stunt. The deaths were result of negligence of safety and lack of equipments on the sets. Indian film industry really needs to start taking responsibility of the people working for them, be it just a spot boy.
