Aamir Khan‘s Dangal is one of the most anticipated films of the year and it is finally set to hit the theatres this Friday. Just a while back we revealed to you that the movie will be screened at 4300 screens in India and 1000 screens in the overseas market. This means the films has managed to garner 5300 screens worldwide. While this is a huge number, we did mention to you how Aamir Khan’s Dangal hasn’t managed to beat the screen count of Salman Khan’s Sultan and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. But we do have a really interesting news for you! Dangal has actually managed to give Aamir Khan his widest release ever! Yes, we aren’t kidding…
While everyone must be thinking that P.K. was his widest release, let us inform you that the film had released in nearly 5000 screens worldwide in the first week of its release. This means Dangal has 300 screens more than P.K., making it his widest release. However, it is important to note that P.K. did manage to increase its screen count to 6000 screens worldwide in its second week. It remains to be seen if Dangal can manage to repeat this feat.
At the box office, Dangal is all set to get the counter ringing. According to our trade expert – Amul Vikas Mohan (Editor of Super Cinema), the movie can easily make Rs 30 crore on day one. He even sees the film touch the Rs 100 crore mark in its first week. However, will Dangal be able to beat Salman Khan‘s Sultan? Amul mentioned to us, “I am hoping that it does. It is one of the biggest films this year and it’s the last week of this year so I am genuinely hoping that it will break Sultan’s record.”
Now we will have to wait and watch what happens. In fact, with Aamir getting his widest release ever, we expect him and Dangal to capitalise and dethrone P.K. as the highest grossing film ever. But will that be possible? Well stay tuned to BollywoodLife as we will get you all the box office updates and predictions for Dangal right here!
