Alia Bhatt, Sonam Kapoor, Vidya Balan – who is the best actress of 2016?

2016 will wrap up soon and so we want you to tell us who according to you was the Best Actress of 2016.

Alia Bhatt, Sonam Kapoor, Vidya Balan – who is the best actress of 2016?

The awards season is here and we thought rather than telling you who got presented with various trophies at different events, why not ask you to choose your favourite stars of 2016. You like that idea, don’t you? We knew you would and hence, we will bring to you a series of polls. You can vote and make your favourite filmwallah win. And we begin this distinguished poll with the Best Actress category. We have six nominees in this category and you just have to vote for the one you loved most this year. Cool? So let’s begin!
Alia Bhatt – Udta Punjab, Dear Zindagi
It’s only fair to begin with Alia Bhatt who had a great year. Kapoor & Sons was more of a brothers’ tale so we would like to keep it out of the list. Apart from that, Alia was part of Udta Punjab and Dear Zindagi. While UP had her play the role of a drug addict with a tortured past, DZ saw her as a woman fighting inner demons. They are two completely different roles and the actress has done justice to both of the so massively that all awards will fall short in lauding her for the performances. She is our personal favourite this year. We hope she is yours too. *Fingers crossed*
Vidya Balan – Kahaani 2
When you are talented, you need just one film to turn the tide to your advantage. Debacles after debacles, Vidya Balan is back! In Kahaani 2, she was just unbelievable. The film completely rested on her shoulders and she took it to the finishing line. The film is earning well and critics too have lauded the film. She played a hapless mother who turns into this woman ready to do anything for her daughter. She deserves big round of applause for this performance. Kahaani 2 proves people still love her.
Sonam Kapoor – Neerja
Sonam Kapoor is often called a fashionista but people shy away from commending her histrionics in films. Well rather than correcting them, the actress decided to prove it with her film Neerja. She silenced all her critics about her acting. Sonam was brilliant in the film and played Neerja Bhanot perfectly in the film. No eyes were dry at the theatre which helped the film become one of the highest grossing films of the year. In fact, it is the most profitable film of 2016.
Taapsee Pannu – Pink
Sometimes a few films end up becoming a revolution, Pink was one such film. The dialogue, “Na apne aap mei ek pura wakya hain” caught up with the Twitter generation so much that they have even started using it in general conversations. And in this film one person who shined despite sharing screen with Amitabh Bachchan was Taapsee Pannu. She played the character so earnestly that you would instantly relate to her. The fear of getting convicted for saying no to the advances of a spoilt brat was beautifully portrayed by Pannu in the film. And that’s why she deserves to be on the list.
Sonakshi Sinha – Akira
There was low buzz about Akira which had Sonakshi Sinha kick some serious butt, before release. But the moment it hit the theatres, people realised it’s a damn good movie. And the reason people liked it was Sonakshi’s amazing performance. She alone managed to pull people to the theatres who were left amazed by her action. Honestly, Sonakshi in this film was a revelation and thus deserves to be applauded.
Anushka Sharma – Sultan, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil
Sultan is a 300 crore film while ADHM has earned over 100 crore. It means with just two films, Anushka Sharma has managed to become the most successful actress of 2016. If she was feisty in ADHM, she was at crossroads in ADHM trying to keep her friend in life despite the fact that her friend has feelings for her. If not for anything else, the fact that she has two 100 crore film in her kitty, makes her deserve a mention here.
So now it’s your turn to choose the Best Actress of 2016 by voting here. DO IT NOW!
