Kangana Ranaut’s kitschy bride look for a mag cover falls flat – view pic

What sets Kangana Ranaut apart from the other divas of the industry is the fact that her sense of fashion is quite evolved and she’s quite the trendsetter. Perhaps, keeping that on mind, Harper’s Bazaar Bride magazine decided to get her on board and try a kitschy concept with her for the photoshoot. But sadly it has fallen flat. Previously, as HBB celebrates three years in the magazine industry, they roped in Jacqueline Fernandez, Harshvardhan Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor for two of their previous issues for this month. While the first two ones were quite good, this third cover hasn’t quite lived upto the expectations. Although it’s a very different look and I’d like to laud the stylists for setting up such a quirky theme, the execution hasn’t been good. That’s where I’ve been let down. There are quite a few reasons that make this cover not so glamorous but plain noisy.
The diva donned a Roberto Cavalli ensemble, which looks like a set of matched curtains assembled together. No offence but if you see the patterns, you’d get why I’m saying that. While the long skirt draped has many layers of clothing, the top with plunging neckline is also a jumble of too many patterns and well, fabric. I’m so not impressed by the ensemble because despite it being so kitschy, its the curtain-like feel that is putting it off. No amount of eccentric makeup can help this outfit. Which takes me to her face and the floral prints that has been glued to her forehead, like a crown. Not cool, Kangana. The ensemble donned by her doesn’t suit the background of the photoshoot. As you can see, they’ve kept it very floral with an abundance of botanical species on the wall as well as her outfit. Now I wouldn’t mind that much but one of the main ideas behind keeping it kitschy is to ensure that the patterns or colours catch the eye. However, here, neither of them are impressive as the hues are dull and the patterns aren’t fun.

I like the confidence with which Kangana has posed for the mag cover though. She has this delicate fierceness going on that makes her look very paradoxical. The cover isn’t all that exciting thanks to so many elements put together but it definitely leaves me curious for the inside pics. Solely for the reason that they’ve shared a making video where we see the diva, radiate beauty and panache.
We’ll be seeing her next in Vishal Bhardwaj’s Rangoon that also stars Shahid Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan. Set in the time of World War 2, the film is a love triangle. Since this is the first time Vishal and Kangana have worked together, in fact, this is the first time she has teamed up with Shahid and Saif as well. That itself makes it an interesting watch. The movie is slated to release on February 24, 2017. How did you guys like the cover? Let us know in the comments box below.
