Ankita Lokhande to make a comeback on television with Ekta Kapoor’s show ‘Mangalsutra’?

Rumour has it that Ankita Lokhande has been roped in to play the lead in Ekta Kapoor's show 'Mangalsutra'

Ankita Lokhande to make a comeback on television with Ekta Kapoor’s show ‘Mangalsutra’?

Ankita Lokhande fans have finally got a reason to rejoice. The actress, who was last seen in Ekta Kapoor‘s hit show Pavitra Rishta, has reportedly been roped in for a new show ‘Mangalsutra’ and yes it’s going to be produced by Balaji Telefilms. Ekta was said to have offered Ankita the lead role in ‘Itna Karo Naa Mujhe Pyaar’ and ‘Yeh Hai Mohabbatein’ but Ankita refused to be a part of the shows for unknown reasons. Ekta was reportedly miffed with Ankita’s rebuff and there were rumors of them having a fallout. But, if recent reports are to be believed then there is no bad air between the two and in fact they are looking forward to work together on a project.
As you will recall, BollywoodLife EXCLUSIVELY reported to you last month that Ekta is considering Ankita’s name to play female Devdas in her new web-series. It will trace the journey of a young and rebellious girl named Devika and her encounters with love, passion, heartbreak, sex, self–destruction and redemption. Ekta is said to have approached Ankita to play Devika’s role.
The news is quite believable because Ankita had earlier dropped a hint of being a bit apprehensive about working with any other production house other than Ekta’s. So, it totally makes sense for her to make her comeback with Balaji. “I’ve been so pampered by Balaji Telefilms. Ekta (Kapoor) mam has spoilt me. I’ve never worked with any other television unit, and I wonder what it’d be like!,” she said in a 2014 interview.
Ankita also explained in the same interview why didn’t she accept any of the offers that came her way post Pavitra Rishta. She revealed that she was eyeing Bollywood at that time. “I am getting good offers for daily soaps. But I’m not too sure I want to do another soap at this stage of my career. A film with Sushant (Singh Rajput) would be ideal. I’ve asked him to make it happen. He will. He loves me too much to say no to anything,” she said.
