Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, Shahid Kapoor – who is the Best Actor of 2016?

While the year is coming to an end, the awards season is just starting. We have seen some really power packed performances this year, especially the actresses. Now it’s time to talk about the actors. Yes, you can make your idol win! We started with the Best Actress poll yesterday and today we bring to you the Best Actor category. We again have six nominees and here’s a lowdown of what they did this year…
Salman Khan – Sultan
A Salman Khan Eid release is one of the most exciting things of the year. Sultan released a day before Eid, however it broke 33 records in a day. Yes, we were the first ones to tell you about this and it speaks a lot about how the film was! Sultan was one of the most difficult movies for Salman, but we guess it was all worth it. The actor played Sultan Ali Khan, a gold medallist in wrestling. His wrestling sequences, emotional scenes and boxing bouts were perfect. In fact, he delivered some power-packed Haryanvi dialogues like “Manney pehelwani jaroor chodi hai par ladna nahi (I have left wrestling, but not fighting)” . For sure, he might get a few awards for this one.
Shah Rukh Khan – Dear Zindagi
The next nominee in this category is Shah Rukh Khan. The actor had two releases this year, but Fan did not please his fans. However, when he played Alia Bhatt’s therapist in Dear Zindagi, everyone went gaga over him once again. SRK’s charm in the film was mesmerising, in fact you could see it affect Alia too! The actor played a therapist, who solved her issues by just making her open up about her demons. The actor’s dialogue delivery was fantabulous and you would just fall in love with his character every time you see him. His message to the audience like – “Hum kitni kursiyaan dekhte hain koi ek lene se pehle. Phir apna life partner choose karne se pehle options dekhne mein kya problem hai? (We see so many chairs before buying one. So what is the problem is checking options before selecting our life partner?) made a lot of sense, making him a frontrunner in this category. A
Akshay Kumar – Airlift, Rustom
The HIT machine, Akshay Kumar had three releases this year. However, it was Airlift and Rustom that touched everyone’s hearts. Two patriotic films releasing on two national holidays (Republic Day and Independence Day) meant that the film would earn a lot of money. But his performances in both the films were commendable. Not only his action sequences, but his emotional scenes were spot on. Akshay immersed himself into his character and gave us two delightful movies. His dialogues in Rustom like, “Meri uniform meri aadat hai… jaise ki saans lena, apne desh ki raksha karna (Wearing my uniform is a habit, like breathing and like protecting my country)” touched many hearts. And the struggle to save the people in Airlift inspired many too.
Shahid Kapoor – Udta Punjab
Udta Punjab was one of the darkest films of the year, but it was also a thought provoking one. Shahid played a drug-addict rapper in Udta Punjab and we have to say he played it fabulously. He not only looked like a rapper, but his body language was also like it. The scene where he lay wasted in the toilet, followed by the sequence where he speaks to his own reflection was really well performed. And then how he treats an heavily drugged Alia in the movie is really touching. His dialogues and emotional scenes really struck a chord with the youth.
Amitabh Bachchan – Pink
Amitabh Bachchan had a couple of releases this year but his strict lawyer avatar in Pink was one of his best acts ever. Not only did he have to undergo a lot of hours of makeup to get his look right, but he had to sound like a lawyer too. We have seen many kind of lawyers onscreen, but his act was very different from them. He would intimidate you with his dialogues and expressions, something every actor would want to learn.
Sushant Singh Rajput – M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story
Sushant Singh Rajput’s portrayal of Indian ODI cricket captain – Mahendra Singh Dhoni was one of the bests of the year. He was not only made to look like the cricketer, but also behave like him. Sushant had to learn to play cricket like MSD and he did. His cricketing sequences, along with his romantic ones with Disha and Kiara were really good. But the best part was his voice and dialogue delivery, which was very similar to Dhoni. People could relate to Sushant and made the film more believable.
You have heard about how each actor has performed. You might have seen their films too! So tell us who is the Best Actor of 2016 according to you by voting in our poll below…
