Alia Bhatt: With Udta Punjab, I was meant to feel like an animal
Here's how Udta Punjab changed Alia Bhatt's perspective
Alia Bhatt has had quite a year. She
appeared in three films in 2016, and all of three went on to be huge
hits. She added year’s first hit to her kitty with Shakun Batra directed
Kapoor & Sons, in which she co-starred with Fawad Khan and Sidharth
Malhotra. She was last seen in Gauri Shinde’s Dear Zindagi, which also
starred Shah Rukh Khan
in a key role. The film was loved by all. Between Kapoor and Sons and
DZ, Alia Bhatt did a film that is sure going to fetch her most of the
awards in the coming awards season. She delivered a hard hitting
performance in Abhishek Chaubey’s Udta Punjab, which also starred Shahid
Kapoor. Alia was talking about the film has changed not just the course
of her career but her perspective as well at the CNN-News18 Bollywood
Roundtable.
Alia Bhatt said playing a victim of drug abuse in Udta Punjab , helped in changing her outlook. “With ‘Udta Punjab’, I was meant to feel like an animal when I was held captive in a small room. And to know that there are a majority of people who are feeling that way, it does change your perspective, but it also makes you feel bad because there is nothing you can do about it,” Alia said. We are sure she changed the perspective of many who watched the film with that top notch performance. Google India on Wednesday issued a statement of the 2016 recap of trending stories — biggest moments, major events and user interests based on the searches made by Indians on Google in 2016 and Udta Punjab was one of the most searched topics. Clearly the film left a huge impact, for various reasons.
The round-table also included actresses Vidya Balan, Sonam Kapoor,
Radhika Apte and Anushka Sharma. The actresses discussed some fiery
topics like pay disparity, feminism in Bollywood, and spoke to length
about how they feel.
Alia will be next seen in Badrinath Ki Dulhania alongside Varun Dhawan.
