11 Salman Khan’s dialogues that make for better life lessons than Shah Rukh Khan’s philosophical gems in Dear Zindagi

While it may not be a blockbuster a la Chennai Express, Shah Rukh Khan’s Dear Zindagi is having a smooth sail at the box office.
The movie has got more than decent reviews, with everyone praising Alia
Bhatt’s performance, Shah Rukh Khan’s admirable support and many
pleasant moments. Dear Zindagi is directed by Gauri Shinde and is jointly produced by Gauri Khan and Karan Johar.
In Dear Zindagi, Alia Bhatt plays a talented budding cinematographer who suffers from a quarter-life crisis, and it is Shah Rukh Khan’s therapist character, Dr Jehangir Khan aka Jug who helps her get through the same. The scenes between them are the highlights of the movie, as we have said again and again in a few of our DZ stories. We get some really beautiful life quotes from Shah Rukh Khan like, ‘don’t let you past blackmail your present to ruin a beautiful future’, or ‘Why take a difficult path when there is an easy one available?’. It was like a Chicken Soup for the Soul book made into a movie. Shah Rukh Khan just knocked it out of the park with his portrayal of the unconventional therapist who has a thing for cycle art and creaky chairs.
…which make us wonder sometimes, how would Dear Zindagi turn out if Karan Johar had cast SRK’s good friend, Salman Khan in the role. Not many know that the role of Kabir Khan in Chak De India was first offered to Salman Khan, before Shah Rukh Khan lapped it up and owned it like a king. So in an alternate universe, if Dear Zindagi was made with Salman Khan as the therapist, this is how we imagine Salman would offer Alia Bhatt life lessons through his trademark dialogues.
