In a poll conducted by BollywoodLife, fans have selected Diljit Dosanjh‘s performance in Udta Punjab as the most underrated one of 2016. In fact, out of the five nominees, Diljit Dosanjh won the poll with 46 percent of the votes. At second position was Randeep Hooda’s brilliant act in Sarbjit. While Randeep’s effective portrayal may have been snubbed by most of the popular awards, 32 percent of the fans thought his performance deserved the acknowledgement. Third in the list was Manoj Bajpayee’s performance in Aligarh, he received 11 percent of the votes. Followed by Kirti Kulhari for Pink, who received 7 percent and Radhika Apte for Phobia and Parched with 5 percent of votes.
It is interesting to see that Diljit Dosanjh won the poll considering just few days ago his win at a recent awards show was questioned by Harshvardhan Kapoor. Jr Kapoor wasn’t questioning his acting chops but his eligibility for that particular category. At a time when his win was questioned by his colleague. It’ll surely be refreshing fro Diljit to see that readers at BollywoodLife voted for his performance as the most underrated.

Randeep Hooda’s snub at most, popular awards was also talked about a lot. Music composer Amaal Malik, questioned the awards shows and asked when Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was nominated for playing Sarbjit’s sister in the film, why was Randeep’s gut wrenching performance, which was one of the best of the year, ignored.

Manoj Bajpayee’s performance in Aligarh, though more or less got its due, as he won quite a few awards for the same.
In 2017, Diljit Dosanjh will be seen in his second Bollywood film, Phillauri, trailer of which was released few days ago. Randeep Hooda will be seen in period war film, Battle of Saragarhi and Manoj Bajpayee will be seen in Sarkar 3, in a character similar to that of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal.
