NOT Kareena, but Alia or Parineeti to play Sridevi’s role in the Sadma remake!

There is a strong buzz going on that Alia Bhatt or Parineeti Chopra are likely to step into Sridevi’s role in the Sadma remake. Earlier, Kareena Kapoor Khan was approached for the role, but she turned it down. In fact, there were rumours of the remake being shelved as the makers did not feel anybody other than Kareena among the Gen Next actresses could do justice to the role. However, now there is talk not only of the film being made with Alia or Parineeti, but also that look tests will be done soon. Ain’t that cool?

For all those who don’t know, the original Sadma starred Sridevi and Kamal Haasan. It was about a young woman (played by Sridevi) who becomes like a child after suffering a head injury in an accident. People take advantage of her and put her into a brothel. However, a young man (Kamal Haasan) saves her. He falls for her while taking care of her. Sadma was itself a remake of a Tamil Film – Moondram Pirai. Sridevi’s autistic child-woman performance was one of her best and people praised her act. In fact, she won quite a few awards. So now you know why the makers wanted a very talented actress to take up this role. While Kareena would be an apt choice coz of her sheer talent, Alia and Parineeti have proved their talent too in recent times. Let’s see who gets finalised in the end…
In the meanwhile, Alia and Kareena were last seen together in Udta Punjab. Post that, Kareena has been on a maternity leave as she is all set to deliver her first child this December. Kareena will shoot for Sonam Kapoor‘s Veere Di Wedding for a couple of weeks, post which she will go back on her maternity break. She will return to acting only after a few months and hence she told no for the Sadma remake. Alia Bhatt, on the other hand, is currently shooting for Badrinath Ki Dulhaniya along with Varun Dhawan. She will also start shooting for Abhishek Varma’s Shiddat by the end of the year. Parineeti is currently working on Meri Pyaari Bindu, post which she has a free calendar. She has been linked to quite a few films including Dabbang 3, Dhoom 4, Thug and most recently, Golmaal 4 and Krrish 4. However, looks like Parineeti or Alia might just be seen playing Sridevi’s role in the Sadma remake
