After being ousted from Padmavati courtesy Deepika Padukone, Vicky Kaushal bags another Sanjay Leela Bhansali film!

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati is finally in the clear. The film has got a cast and a release date. Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor will be a part of Padmavati and the movie will release on November 17, 2017. While everything looks sorted right now, the movie was in troubled waters till a few days back. The first issue was SLB wasn’t able to find the right actor to play Deepika’s (Rani Padmavati’s) husband in the film! Sanjay had finalised a TV actor for the role, but we heard that Deepika rejected him just because he was not from Bollywood and not ‘big enough’ to play the role of her husband (Raja Rawal Ratan Singh) in the movie. The film-maker then turned to Vicky Kaushal and SLB was really excited and eager to sign him up. In fact, he was almost finalised for the role but DP didn’t really show any interest in having him on board. And then, when he was about to sign Shahid and Deepika agreed, Ranveer had some issues. Anyway, looks like everything is sorted now and everybody including Vicky Kaushal is happy!

You must be confused right? You must be thinking how would Vicky be happy after losing a film like Padmavati? Well coz Vicky has bagged another film with Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Yes, Mumbai Mirror reported today that SLB is planning to make three films with Viacom, after the production house decided to join hands with the film-maker for Padmavati. So post the film, he will make another mid-budget love story with Vicky Kaushal as the lead and then another third film will be another romantic tale, which will be directed by one of SLB’s assistant directors. So after receiving critical acclaim for Masaan and Zubaan, Vicky Kaushal bags a film with one of India’s most renowned film-makers. Ain’t that cool? 

Talking about the other issues concerning Padmavati, we hear that the budget of Padmavati is very HIGH… The overall budget including P&A would be nearly Rs 190 crore. Huge, isn’t it? This drove away a lot of producers. In fact, Eros was going to make the film earlier along with SLB’s production house, however they backed out. And after a lot of going back-and-forth, Viacom came on board. And then there was a clash of egos! Ranveer and SLB had an apparent fall out over Shahid too. Ranveer felt hurt after Sanjay hiked Shahid’s fees and promised him a meatier role. Reports suggested he wanted Shahid to be billed as a special appearance and he demanded a fatter pay check for himself too… What happened later on, we don’t know. However, the two have patched up and things are back on track.
