Raees enters Rs 100 crore club
Shah Rukh Khan‘s first release of 2017 Raees became the first film of 2017 to enter Rs 100 crore club. The film crossed the Rs 100 crore mark on the sixth day of its release. After receiving mixed reviews from critics and clashing with Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil, it earned big bucks at the box office.
Attack on Sanjay Leela Bhansali by Rajput Kirni Sena
Everyone was left in a state of shock when the news broke that one of the India’s most successful and prolific director Sanjay Leela Bhansali was attacked on the sets of Padmavati in Rajasthan. The video that went viral showed a bunch of holligans slapping SLB and tearing his ‘kurta’. Many from Bollywood expressed their anger over the same and for a change most of the Bollywood came together to support SLB. While SLB promised that there won’t be any romantic scene filmed between Alauddin Khilji (Ranveer Singh) and Rani Padmavati (Deepika Padukone), speaking to a leading daily, spokesperson of the Kirni Sena – Vijendra Singh Kalyanwat said, “The newspaper Rajasthan Patrika carried a report that there was a dream sequence in the film, which shows Deepika meeting Ranveer Singh. Now Rani Padmini is not an ordinary woman. She is like a devi in Rajasthan. And you cannot show this devi meeting a terrorist like Alauddin Khilji even in his dreams. Rajputs will never tolerate this. If Bhansali distorts history and shoots the film in Mumbai, we will go there and destroy his sets like we did in Jaipur.” He further stated that we tried to get in touch with SLB but he didn’t pay heed to our queries.
Badrinath Ki Dulhania trailer launch
The trailer of India’s first love franchise film was launched and it was praised by most. The trailer is more earthy in feel than Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania. The running joke in the trailer about ‘simple interest’ and ‘compound interest’ will surely chuckle you up. Having said that the highlight of the trailer is Varun Dhawan’s Badri act. He fits Badrinath’s character to the T and it’s commendable that the makers gave Badrinath its own arc, which can be witnessed in the trailer itself. Catch the trailer and review right here.
Priyanka Chopra’s next Bollywood film
BollywoodLife EXCLUSIVELY revealed that Priyanka has given a nod to Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s project based on a book. It’s a gritty tale of a prostitute and a hard hitting account of her life in a brothel. Our source also informed us that Bhansali had originally approached Rani Mukerji for this role and the actress had even given her nod. However, people close to the actress advised her against taking up a role that she had already portrayed that before. The role has now landed on Priyanka’s lap and she seems pretty happy with the part and working with SLB again added our source.
Kangana Ranaut takes a dig at Hrithik Roshan
Kangana Ranaut revisited the whole Hrithik Roshan controversy and made some revelations. While talking to Mid-Day she said, “I was dragged to court for being who I am. I was restricted to a relationship that was [carried out] behind closed doors and I fought it fair and square. People [can] talk rubbish, but they can’t decide how I lead my life. I felt stigmatised. I would wake up to [media reports] of hideous mails, which I hadn’t written. I am a certified screenwriter from the New York Film Academy. I don’t write such crap (laughs).”She added, “Someone I once shared a beautiful equation with did it… and with such malice. It hurt me”. She also spoke about receiving a legal notice, demanding an apology for the claims she made in public. “I refused. I never completely understood the story — who was impersonating whom? I was threatened that horrifying secrets about me would be revealed. My parents were concerned for my safety, but I couldn’t bear it quietly. There was a group of jealous hats wandering around him (Hrithik), using him to aim vengeance at me.”
