After Dear Zindagi, Alia Bhatt signs yet another women-centric movie

After doing Dear Zindagi which is a woman-centric movie, Alia Bhatt is all set to star in yet another female-oriented movie. Apparently, the actress has bagged the role in Meghna Gulzar’s next which is based on Harinder S. Sikka’s novel ‘Calling Sehmat’. If reports are to be believed, Ms Bhatt will be seen playing the role of a spy in the early 1970s in the movie. She is yet to make an official statement about the same. However, if this is true, this will be yet another feather in her cap. She is only 23 and Alia has experimented with her characters onscreen like nobody else in Bollywood. When she debuted with Student Of The Year everyone thought she wouldn’t go too far with her Bollywood career. However, she proved everyone wrong with a brilliant performance in Highway and ever since then there is no stopping her.
Talking about Meghna Gulzar’s next project, the filmmaker who helmed Talvar last in 2015, is yet to finalise the male lead for the film. Her father will pen the lyrics of the songs once the script has been finalised. The film will be an espionage thriller with Bhatt portraying a Kashmiri girl married to an army officer. The story will revolve around her juggling responsibilities as a wife and her duties towards her nation in the lead up to the Indo-Pak war in 1971, reports an entertainment web portal.
Alia has just wrapped up the shoot of her forthcoming movie Badrinath Ki Dulhania and is currently vacationing in the Maldives with her sister. Once she is back she will resume working on Ayan Mukerji’s Dragon which also stars Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role.
