Here’s how Amitabh Bachchan is still ruling the box office at the age of 74

Amitabh Bachchan is not known Shahenshah of Bollywood for nothing.

Here’s how Amitabh Bachchan is still ruling the box office at the age of 74 Amitabh Bachchan is not known Shahenshah of Bollywood for nothing. He is 74 now and even at this age he is doing films with author backed roles written especially for him. His latest release Pink is the best example of that. In 70s, Amitabh Bachchan was one of the most sought after actors, as he was in his prime then. His image of angry young man was loved by one and all. Then in the late 80s his career started eeing a downward curve and when people thought that the actor was finished in the 90s he proved everyone wrong. There’s no denying that Big B tried to make a few comebacks but all in vain and then he started his production house ABCL, which failed and he went bankrupt. It was Mohabbatein that brought him back to the mainstream and Baghban further solidified his position as a lead actor at the box office. Since then he has been churning hit almost every year and it’s not just about multi starrers he has given hit films where he had author backed roles, be it SarkarSarkar RajPaaPikuBlackBhoothnath and Cheeni Kum etc.
Now Pink has worked wonders at the box office and is still earning well despite the release of MS Dhoni: The Untold Story. The large part of its success is credited to incredible performance of Amitabh Bachchan. Even at 74 he has given superhits at the box office, let’s take a look at other Bollywood stars who couldn’t deliver at the box office, despite being way younger than him…

Shah Rukh Khan’s FAN
The film was a rare roadblock in Shah Rukh Khan’s glorious career. Of course he had an under performer in the form of Dilwale last year but it’s failure at the box office is courtesy various other reasons apart from the film being a critical disaster. As it outshined and outperformed Bajirao Mastani every where, be in overseas, worldwide or tv ratings. But that’s a story for another time for now let’s stick to FAN. The film was critically acclaimed but didn’t work with audience for various reasons and Shah Rukh Khan gave a true blue flop in 2016.
Hrithik Roshan’s Mohenjo Daro
Considered as one of the biggest disaster of Bollywood, Hrithik Roshan’s Mohenjo Daro, released alongside Rustom couldn’t open well and  was a critical and  commercial disaster. Hrithik had a lean phase both on and off screen.
Katrina Kaif’s Baar Baar Dekho and Fitoor
Katrina Kaif delivered two big duds at the box office in 2016. Both the films were much talked about before the release but couldn’t do much upon its release.
Emraan Hashmi’s Azhar
Emraan Hashmi is not doing too well lately as far as his films are concerned. His much awaited and much talked about biopic on former Indian cricket captain Mohd. Azharuddin tanked at the box office and now with the success of MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, you know everything that was wrong with that one.
John Abraham’s Rocky Handsome
John Abraham was yet to put a wrong foot as a producer since he ventured into film production. The actor has been backing movies which are different like Vicky Donor and Madras Cafe. And, then came Rocky Handsome. The trailer of the film was praised but the final product couldn’t impress anyone. The film was an outright flop.
Now, these actors are still young or middle aged but they are unable to give a success at the box office and here is the legend of Amitabh Bachchan, who is the only superstar in the history of Indian cinema to have a long run as male lead in a film, who even at an age of 74 is giving performances to be remembered and even delivering big box office successes like Piku and Pink.
