Befikre will be BIG for Vaani Kapoor – here’s why

Post Shuddh Desi Romance, Vaani Kapoor went off the radar. Two years down the line, she is making her comeback with Aditya Chopra and Ranveer Singh's Befikre. Here we tell you why Befikre is BIG for Vaani...

Vaani Kapoor was the breakout star of 2014 when she debuted in Yash Raj Films’ Shuddh Desi Romance. Vaani debuted in this rom-com opposite Sushant Singh Rajput and caught the attention of thousands of people with her fab looks and stellar act. Yes, Vaani is one of the talented actresses of Bollywood and she won quite a few awards for her debut performance too. However post Shuddh Desi Romance, the actress went off the radar. Two years down the line, she is making her comeback with another YRF film – Befikre. The best part about this film is that it is being directed by none other than Aditya Chopra! Adi has been away from direction since quite a while, but with Befikre he has gone all out.

Yes, Befikre celebrates the Parisian love and you will see a lot of bold and love making scenes, but there is a rather interesting story between the main protagonists – Vaani Kapoor and Ranveer Singh too! But the trailer of Befikre is set to be launched at the Eiffel tower in a few hours, but before that we tell you why this is the BIGGEST opportunity for Vaani to make it big in Bollywood.

First of all, to get a film as huge as Befikre is an big opportunity itself. Then to work with a director like Aditya Chopra and an actor like Ranveer Singh, who are huge names in their space, is an even bigger opportunity. In fact, Anushka Sharma – who Adi last directed, has become a huge name and so can Vaani! Also Befikre is YRF’s boldest film and stars only Vaani and Ranveer, so a lot of attention will be on them when the film releases. So other film-makers will obviously notice Vaani when the film releases. Also, Befikre releases in December and so, we know the film will be HUGE. With such a big name to her credit, she will obviously get more offers. But what does the trade have to say about this? 
We spoke to our trade expert – Akshaye Rathi a while back (exhibitor and distributor) and while speaking about Vaani Kapoor and how important Befikre is for her, he mentioned, “Her first film of course was Shuddh Desi Romance and then Aha Kalyanam, which is the Tamil version of Band Bajaa Baraat. Both of them did fairly okay but the two films weren’t resting on her shoulders. Ahan… was of course a regional film and all of that. Shuddh Desi Romance had Parineeti Chopra in the lead. If you talk about Vaani’s proper heroine mainstream launch, Befikre will be her film. The anticipation around Befikre is huge, besides the fact that it’s Aditya Chopra directing the film. It is one of those films which everybody, be it trade or audience, is looking forward to. I certainly think so (that she can make it big in Bollywood). She has a likeability which was shown in Shuddh Desi Romance.”
