Fans choose Sonam Kapoor as the best actress of 2016

Last year, it was a tough call to decide who among Sonam Kapoor and Alia Bhatt deserved the Best Actress trophy. Both
the ladies were superlative in their films namely, Neerja, Udta Punjab
and Dear Zindagi. Only one can win. So we decided to find out who our
readers think was the Best Actress of 2016 between these two talented
women and today, we have the verdict. According to fans, Sonam Kapoor
deserves the title for her brilliant portrayal of slain Pan Am air
hostess Neerja Bhanot.
Sonam won the poll with 54.09 percent votes. This proves that audience has accepted her as a good actress as well. She is often called a fashionista but people shy away from commending her histrionics in films. Well rather than correcting them, the actress decided to prove it with her film Neerja. She silenced all her critics about her acting. Sonam was brilliant in the film and played Neerja Bhanot perfectly. No eyes were dry at the theatre which helped the film become one of the highest grossing films of that year. In fact, it was the most profitable film of 2016. No wonder our readers voted for her in hordes.
Alia Bhatt took the second spot with 35.86 percent votes. Alia was insanely good in all the three films she did last year, including Kapoor & Sons. But it’s her work in Udta Punjab and Dear Zindagi that won her more accolades. While UP had her play the role of a drug addict with a tortured past, DZ saw her as a woman fighting inner demons. They are two completely different roles and the actress has done justice to both of them.
Others on the list were Anushka Sharma, Taapsee Pannu, Sonakshi Sinha and Vidya Balan. The latter took the third spot followed by Sonakshi Sinha.
