Mirzya lyricist Gulzar loses his cool when asked about banning Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan

Nowadays, everyone has only one topic to discuss and ask others – about the ongoing hostilities between India and Pakistan following the militant attack on Uri. Which, of course, leads to the next question – whether banning Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan and other Pakistani artistes is the right thing to do in the current scenario. Everyone’s commenting on the same, be it celeb or common man, each sticking to his own rigid opinion. Bollywood itself is divided over the opinion on whether banning Fawad and Mahira is the correct thing to do. Some are of the opinion that arts and politics should never be mixed together, like Salman Khan, Juhi Chawla, Karan Johar. There are some who feels its right to ban the Pakistani artistes in the current scenario like Nana Patekar, Madhur Bhandarkar and Randeep Hooda.
However, when the legendary Gulzar was asked about this when he was at the music launch of the animated film Motu Patlu – King Of Kings today, he lost his temper and asked the reporter to stay in line and ask questions about the event. When he was asked about the tension between India and Pakistan following the surgical strikes carried out by India, he responded angrily, “Is this (question) relevant to the programme for which we have come? Aap agar shaadi may jaao, aur baat frontier ki karne lage, theek lagega? We should talk of Motu Patlu to the soldiers there? Be relevant to the occasion.” Haider director and music composer Vishal Bhardwaj who was with him at the event, was non-committal over the issue, choosing not to respond.
Earlier director Mahesh Bhatt who is known to take very strong stands on social issues had this to say about Fawad and other Pakistani artistes not declaring their solidarity over the attacks, “Every human being present on this earth needs to take a clear position against terror of any kind and I urge With folded hands & bended knees, I urge Fawad Khan & all actors to take a clear position and condemn terror when it happens on our soil. That would bridge differences that have suddenly been created in moments like these and so you are absolutely justified by asking them to do this and I do the same.”
