After supporting Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Anurag Kashyap LASHES out at PM Narendra Modi for his Pakistan trip
Anurag Kashyap criticised PM Narendra Modi after coming out in support of Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Fawad Khan and Anushka Sharma's Ae Dil Hai Mushkil...
Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, who is not new to the ‘banned’ zone of Bollywood movies has come out in support of Karan Johar whose latest, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, is sailing through rough waters. ADHM is at the center of controversy because it features Pakistani actor Fawad Khan in a significant role. The movie and the makers started facing the brunt of outrage after MNS called for a ban on the movies starring Pakistani artistes in any capacity and told them to leave the country. Move by MNS was a response to recent attacks in Uri. Taking to his Twitter account, in series of tweets, Kashyap voiced his opinion and further questioned PM Narendra Modi’s impromptu visit to Pakistan to ask after the health of their prime minister – Nawaz Sharif.
He tweeted, “The World must learn from us.. We solve all our problems by blaming it on movies and banning it.. #ADHM. With you on this @karanjohar. @narendramodi Sir you haven’t yet said sorry for your trip to meet the Pakistani PM.. It was dec 25th. Same time KJo was shooting ADHM? Why? @narendramodi why is it that we have to face it while you can be silent?? @narendramodi and you actually diverted your trip on our tax money, while the film shot then was on money on which someone here pays interest. @narendramodi I am just trying to understand the situation because I am actually dumb and I don’t get it. Sorry if you feel offended..Btw Bharat Mata ki Jai Sir @narendramodi.”
Kashyap’s comments follow Cinema Owners Exhibitors Association of India (COEAI)’s announcement stating they would not screen any movies involving Pakistani artistes in the four states of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, and Goa. Speculations about the fate of Karan Johar‘s movie Ae Dil Hai Mushkil have been doing their rounds for some time because of this trouble. But on Friday, Apoorva Mehta, CEO, Dharma Productions said in a statement, “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil has been cleared by the censor board and we are gearing up for its release on the 28th of October. Diwali is all about love and Ae Dil…. is all about spreading love.”
Vijay Singh, CEO, Fox Star Studios, added, “Karan Johar’s films present love in its purest yet unique and modern way and this Diwali, he is celebrating love, friendship, and heartbreak. We are set for the film’s release on October 28. There can be no better way than celebrating Diwali with Ae Dil… a quintessential family entertainer.” Apart from Fawad Khan, the movie stars Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Anushka Sharma in lead roles… Check out Anurag Kashyap’s Twitter rant right here and tell us what you think about it in the comments section below!
