Ranveer Singh and Rohit Shetty to reunite for My Name Is Lakhan
Rohit Shetty and Ranveer Singh's combo will surely set the box office on fire.
After the blockbuster success of Chennai Express, Rohit Shetty, in collaboration with Karan Johar, had announced a remake to Ram Lakhan. From Arjun Kapoor, Ranveer Singh,
Sidharth Malhotra to Varun Dhawan quite a few names were in contention
for the role but nothing was finalised. Later it was announced that the
plans of remaking the classic were shelved by Rohit and Karan as none of
the young actors approached were interested in the role of Ram, played
by Jackie Shroff in the original and everyone was game for Lakhan’s
character, originally portrayed by Anil Kapoor. Now there are reports
that Rohit Shetty has pitched another project to Ranveer Singh, while he
was working with him on My Name Is Ranveer Ching ad campaign. The movie
is reportedly titled My Name Is Lakhan. While the title is
inspired by the chartbuster song in Ram Lakhan, the plot of the film is
based on 2015 Telugu hit, Temper starring Jr. NTR. In fact it is
reported that Ranveer Singh too liked the idea and instantly agreed to
do the film.
As far as Temper is concerned, it was directed by Puri Jagannadh, and starred N. T. Rama Rao Jr. or Jr. NTR as he is popularly known as, and Kajal Aggarwal in the lead roles. The film revolved around Daya, a corrupt police officer who finds love and decides to mend his erring ways.
Rohit Shetty will commence the work on the film, only after he is done with Ajay Devgn’s Golmaal Again, also starring Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Parineeti Chopra and Tabu, which is up for a late 2017 or early 2018 release. Ranveer Singh too is busy with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati, also starring Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor. Apart from that, he has recently signed Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy.
