Mustafa – Kiara Advani’s Cheez Badi ruins the iconic Akshay Kumar – Raveena Tandon song
The new version of Tu Chees Badi Hai Mast is out!
Joining the league of remaking old songs is Mustafa’s debut vehicle Machine. If
you are a true 90’s kid, one of your favourite dance number has got to
be Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast Mast. It is that superhit Akshay Kumar-Raveena
Tandon number which has been remade, and the new version is out. We are
disappointed by the new product. The charm of the original has not been
retained.
Akshay Kumar was present at the launch of Cheez Badi, and looked fairly enthusiastic about it. Raveena Tandon was missing from the event but she has already watched the song at a special screening held for her. And we cannot believe how must they have tolerated with the atrocity that this remake is.
Kiara and Mustafa groove to the beats nicely, but there is soemthing off about the whole set up of the song. The energy, the charm, the kitsch – everything is missing from the song. Udit Narayan’s original voice is used in this one, while Neha Kakkar replaces the female vocals. And with Cheez Badi, yet another song has been ruined beyond repair. Left with no words, the only thought we have is that Bollywood should spare old songs now. Watch Cheez Badi, and cringe over the tack fest it is:
The original Tu Cheez diva Raveena Tandon has absolutely no problem with the song. She has given a thumbs up, and has loved Kiara in the remake. At a special screening of the song, she said, “It’s high time that someone did the remake. I am so happy that such a sweet and beautiful girl like Kiara is performing on the song. She is very young and innocent. Kiara is looking very pretty and innocent. At the same time, she is sensual in the song,” Clearly, she is a good actor.
With the recent success of Laila Main Laila, and Saara Zamana, be open to the idea of even more old songs to be remade in the coming time. We already have a hint about a few, but more about that later.
Machine tells the story of racing enthusiasts Sarah played by Kiara, and Ransh played by Mustafa, who meet each other under mysterious circumstances. As their bond becomes stronger, they eventually fall in love. However, new twists and turns in their saga changes their lives forever. Directed by Abbas-Mustan, it is slated to release on March 17.
Do you think that Cheez Badi lived up to the expectation? Tell us in comments below.
