Did you know that Shah Rukh Khan was involved in the scripting of Munna Bhai MBBS? – watch video
Shah Rukh Khan is indeed a man of many talents...
It is now a known fact that initially Shah Rukh Khan
was supposed to play the part of the lovable goon who aspires to be a
doctor in Munna Bhai MBBS but did you know that the superstar was also
involved in the scripting of the film? Yes, it’s true. If you look
closely at the credit of the 2003 film, you can see a slate of
acknowledgement where makers have thanked Shah Rukh Khan for his inputs
in the script. In fact, in an interview with Anupama Chopra, director Rj
Kumar Hirani revealed that initially Anil Kapoor was supposed to play
the part, which later went to Vivek Oberoi and then to Shah Rukh Khan.
While SRK liked the script and recommended Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s name
for it, things didn’t work out and it was Sanjay Dutt who went on to
star in the film. However, Shah Rukh had various script sessions with
the director and that’s the reason his name was mentioned in the credits
of the film. While we don’t know how much input Shah Rukh Khan has
given to the script, it sure worked in the favour of it, as we can see
the film is loved by many and even spawned a sequel – Lage Raho Munna Bhai.

Recently, while talking at the launch of the Bone Marrow Transplant and Birthing Centre of Nanavati hospital, Shah Rukh talked about losing the Munnabhai role to Sanjay Dutt, and said, “I think that every actor is destined to do certain films. I feel I couldn’t have done it as well as Sanjay Dutt did.”
Going solely on the basis of Munnabhai MBBS, Shah Rukh Khan should indeed write a script for films. Don’t you think so?
