Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh’s Padmavati is already facing HUGE protests!

As if there were any less issues, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone's Padmavati has now been forced to stop the production work. Read on to know why...

Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh’s Padmavati is already facing HUGE protests!
As if there were any less issues, Sanjay Leela Bhansali has now been asked to stop the production for his much ambitious project, Padmavati. Yes! While until yesterday we had reports on how Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor are fighting over screenspace and that their never ending demands are posing as an hindrance to begin shooting for the film. This latest report reveals how Patel Navnirman Sena  has further forced Bhansali to stop preparing for the film or else they will strike a ban. Yes!

Turns out Bhansali was planning to shoot in Gujarat and the Southern district of Mewar in Rajasthan, where the film is actually being based but people out there believe Padmavati(the film) is going to eventually damage the image of Rani Padmavati. Speaking of which, Hardik Patel, the President of Patel Navnirman Sena revealed, “Every person is proud of Maharani Padmavati, who sacrificed her life for the self-esteem of Chittorgarh. Along with 1,600 other queens, she died of jauhar, (self-immolation) when Alauddin Khilji had attacked Chittorgarh,“ he said, pointing out that this is the premise of Bhansali’s next film, with Ranveer as Khilji and Shahid as Rawal Ratan Singh, Padmavati’s husband.

“However Rajasthan-based Rajput Sena’s members met me and informed that SLB has not studied the history, and could damage the image of Rani Padmavati. So, we’ve informed him to stop the production of the film and hold discussions with Rajput leaders before he begins shooting. Bhansali should give assurance of not damaging Rani Padmavati’s image, or else Patidar Navnirman Sena will hold protests against the movie across the country, and will not give permission for the film to release in Rajasthan. No director has the right to damage history for entertainment.”
While it’s left to see how will Bhansali tackle this controversial situation. A set has already being built at Mehboob Studios, Mumbai for a song sequence that’s expected to be shot next month. Now will that too be put on hold? Only time will tell! But we really feel Bhansali and his historic connection has always landed him in trouble. Remember even during Bajirao Mastani, he had faced terrible protests for wrongly portraying the Marathas. But then, hasn’t he always clarified that it’s NOT a biopic but an inspiration drawn from that specific period?
Well, let’s see what future holds for Padmavati. Until then, stay tuned to BollywoodLife for more updates on this hot story.
