Ae Dil Hai Mushkil might spell trouble for Ranbir Kapoor’s rivals – find out why!

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil might spell trouble for Ranbir Kapoor’s rivals – find out why!

He has the cutest smile but it is the pain in his eyes that touches the film buff time and again. Ranbir Kapoor is back with existential angst in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and we feel it is a warning note to all rivals!

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil might spell trouble for Ranbir Kapoor’s rivals – find out why!

A few days back Ranbir Kapoor said, “I’m just going through little bit of metamorphosis, a little bit of a change. Trying to understand where I’m at in life. Am I at a pause? Sometimes I’m stuck in between ‘what if and f**k it’.” The interview was much talked about given that RK Junior gives very few of them. In Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, he is this one-sided lover who takes joy in the angst of unrequited love. It is not at all surprising why Karan Johar thought of Ranbir for this role. The actor, rated as the finest performer of his generation particularly excels in films that highlight life and its agonies. Whether it is Wake Up Sid or Tamasha, he has delivered his best in such projects.  The introverted superstar confesses he has faith in his talent but fears getting rejected in auditions. He won’t open up on his relationships even if it builds a wrong perception. Ranbir is the actor whose mind a shrink would love to crack. Rival actors, however, know that a troubled Ranbir on screen is someone to watch out for. Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is about to release and it might change his professional fortunes. Check out how Ranbir Kapoor and existential angst is a winning combo.
Wake Up Sid (2009)
Siddharth ‘Sid’ Mehra is the typical South Bombay spoilt brat who does not understand the meaning of responsibility. Life changes after he meets a working girl from Kolkata, Aisha Banerjee who makes him understand the value of owning up. He is a guy who does not know what to with life and is under the burden of parental wealth. It bagged RK Junior his first Critics Award and grossed 467 million. It was a hit.

Rockstar (2011)
Hailed by many as Ranbir’s finest performance till date, Rockstar saw him as Jordan/Janardhan Jakhar. The struggling artiste playing Sherawali Maa on the guitar to the devastated lover, to the rock-star who does not give a damn, he projected a range of emotions. Jordan was Ranbir, we feel! The introverted Ranbir has been comfy with stardom but the performer in him is consummate. And all the Best Actor awards were his for the taking.

Barfi! (2012)
Though jovial and spunky, Barfi! had his own existential angst. Do you remember the scene where he walks away from Shruti (Ileana D’Cruz) after being rejected and how he misses Jhilmil (Priyanka Chopra) after she is gone? It is a film we had watch again and again. It was the highest grosser of the year and Kapoor again won the laurels.

Yeh Jaawani Hai Deewani (2013)
If girls could look past Ranbir’s superb dancing and his sizzling chemistry with Deepika Padukone, they would see the troubled Kabir Thapar. In a glossy film, Ranbir made us think when he said Main Bas Rukna Nahi Chahta and his wonderful conversation with late Farooque Shaikh. What’s more important – Personal happiness or keeping our near ones happy? Is ambition greater than love? The actor said recently, “The real struggle was how do I become new, more of a surprise, more engaging? I’m getting bored seeing myself. So I believe that I’m very talented. I’m not questioning that.” Is that not like Kabir Thapar?

Tamasha (2015)
Deepika Padukone revealed a lot when she said Ranbir has the cutest boxers collection. Forget that! As Ved Sahni, he proved that when it comes to films that deal with life’s dilemmas, few do it better than Ranbir Kapoor. It fared moderately at the BO but critics lauded his work. The actor has himself said that he is not expressive. His family does not understand what he is going through. Whatever his emotions, they are bottled up much like Ved Sahni.

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016)
Ek tarfa pyar ki taqat hi kuch aur hoti hai … auron ke rishton ki tarah yeh do logon mein nahi bat’ti … sirf mera haq hai ispe…we got goosebumps the moment we heard it. Any lesser actor would have looked like a total a** mouthing those lines but Ranbir makes it work. He is Ayan, a musician, a devoted friend, a passionate lover and an idealist. While some might compare Ayan with Rockstar’s Jordan, we say RK Junior’s interpretation will be different in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.
