Sushant Singh Rajput’s M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story to collect Rs 13 crore on day one, predicts trade expert!

M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story – Sushant Singh Rajput, Kiara Advani and Disha Patani‘s film based on the life of India’s ODI cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is finally out and looks like it has taken the box office by storm.  While we knew that a huge buzz surrounded the film and everyone was excited to see the film, we never expected so much fan frenzy today. But then again, Mahendra Singh Dhoni is India’s most followed sportsman and so, all the cinemas across India saw a lot of full houses.
In fact, M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story has opened so well that shows across prime cities are housefull till the evening. Our trade expert Amul Mohan, Editor Supercinema, couldn’t get a ticket too. In an EXCLUSIVE chat with us, he revealed, “M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story has opened phenomenally. For a non-holiday day, the occupancy and numbers are crazy! I can’t get a ticket too… The occupancy is well over 60 per cent across all the territories in India. So it is really big that way. Mahendra Singh Dhoni is a relevant player for India right now. The craze about him, anything Dhoni does is BIG. Everything’s coming together very well for the movie and it will open BIG! Everyone has treated them like a big film because generally exhibitors and distributors try to play safe and try to get the movie going with a small release. But these guys have gone all out and that risk is going to pay off brilliantly.” 
And with such a brilliant opening, looks like M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story will earn a lot of money too. The film has got the widest release ever after it bagged nearly 4500 screens and this will help the Dhoni biopic reign supreme at the box office. As Amul added to us, “Earlier, I had suggested that the film would open to a Rs 10-11 crore collection on day 1. However, now I think, it’s going to be well over that. Today, I think the film will easily make Rs 13 crore on the first day, at least after looking at the face value of the film right now and the morning trends. There is a good word of mouth flowing for the film also. Even though people are going to see the film in hordes, they are coming out and still not saying anything bad about the movie. So it seems that the movie is good and when it is good, half the battle is won. More people will now come in seeing others talk about the film!”
If you remember, we had told you that M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story would make Rs 40 crore over the first weekend but now Amul thinks that the movie can easily make even more money. As he mentioned to us, “I had told you earlier that it would make Rs 40 crore over the weekend, but now I think it will be close to the Rs 50 crore mark over the weekend after looking at the current trends after the few morning shows.”
Well, M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story looks really fabulous and our reviewer Sreeju Sudhakaran has also liked it, especially Sushant’s performance.
