P.O.W – Bandi Yuddh Ke Promo: This Nikhil Advani venture impresses with its scale!
Nikhil Advani's new TV show trailer is out, and is already giving us high expectations.
Nikhil Advani, the Indian filmmaker, who has made movies like Kal Ho Naa Ho, Salaam-e-Ishq: A Tribute To Love, Chandni Chowk To China, Patiala House and D-Day is all set to shine on the small screen. His latest project is an offbeat show called P.O.W. – Bandi Yuddh Ke. The show is based on the Gideon Raff’s acclaimed Israeli TV series Hatufim (Prisoners of War). It also inspired the American TV show series Homeland. It’s a story of two prisoners of war who falsely are trapped by the army of the neighbouring nation and are released after 17 years. The story will also focus on the wives of those soldiers who go missing. P.O.W. will also focus on their (wives’) pain, trials, as they are the ones who unfortunately suffer silently.
The filmmaker told a leading daily, “The show isn’t an adaptation of Homeland, which is a thriller. What we have created is a family drama. The channel approached me after watching my film D-Day, and said they wanted to do a show like that. They asked me to go ahead and try to make it as real as possible. They had already watched Hatufim, and then they made me watch it. It is a story about two soldiers who go missing after the 1999 Kargil War.” The trailer of the show was recently released on Star Plus.
“As I watched the show, I realised that the real prisoners of war are these soldiers’ wives and families. In those 17 years, the wives haven’t been able to move on with their lives, every time they want to move ahead, they have this sense of guilt that’s holding them back. They think, ‘what if he comes back?’ ‘There is still hope,” added Nikhil. It stars Purab Kohli, Manish Chaudhari, Amrita Puri, Sandhya Mridul and many talented actors. BollywoodLife exclusively showed you the first look of Purab Kohli from the show. The actor plays a Sikh army officer.
Sandhya Mridul will reprise the role played by Claire Danes in the American show. She will play an investigation officer on the show while Amrita will play a glamorous character.
P.O.W. — Bandi Yuddh Ke will air from October on Star Plus. We are totally excited for the show as it has set high expectations in our minds considering Nikhil’s experience and the brilliant concept of the show.
