Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor recreate Shah Rukh Khan – Kajol’s iconic train scene for Half Girlfriend but with a TWIST!
Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor will
also recreate the same scene for their upcoming Half Girlfriend, which
is scheduled for a worldwide release on 19 May 2017
Everyone loves Dilwale Dulhania Le
Jayenge, right? I mean, everyone who is a sucker for romantic movies
made in Bollywood will have DDLJ at the top of their fave list.
The blockbuster film starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol was released two
decades ago, and was also the directorial debut of YRF scion Aditya
Chopra. Breaking all kinds of records when it was released, including
being the longest running film ever, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge still
holds a special place in everyone’s hearts. And when you ask people
their fave scene from the film, many might say that last scene where
Kajol runs to catch Shah Rukh Khan’s hand while he is on a moving train
as their fave (never mind the theories that he should have pulled the
chain and made the train stop). A few films that came later have tried
to recreate that scene, including Shah Rukh Khan’s own Chennai Express (in a hilarious tribute). Now Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor will also recreate the same scene for their upcoming Half Girlfriend,
but with a twist. It will be the boy i.e. Arjun Kapoor who will be
running with the train, while Shraddha Kapoor is on it. However, she is
not extending her hand towards him.
Arjun Kapoor had posted the still on his Twitter timeline with the
caption, “Our very own DDLJ moment !!! @ShraddhaKapoor @mohit11481
@chetan_bhagat #halfgirlfriend #shootlife #mumbailocal”
Half Girlfriend
is a cinematic adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s popular novel by the same
name. It tells the bitter-sweet love story of Madhav, an impoverished
prince from Dumraon, and Riya, a high-society girl from New Delhi,
college mates as first before she becomes his ‘half girlfriend’. Even
though they have nothing in common when it comes to their upbringing,
they are bound by their common passion for basketball. Mohit Suri is
directing the film.
Arjun Kapoor was last seen in this year’s sleeper hit movie Ki &
Ka, where his character was much applauded for bringing a change in the
stereotypical presentation of male lead characters. Shraddha Kapoor, who
is having a great run at the box office with her last film Baaghi also
being a hit, will also be seen in Farhan Akhtar’s Rock On sequel, Rock
On 2. Her songs in the film have been much praised.
Half Girlfriend is scheduled for a worldwide release on 19 May 2017.
