Is a cameo by Shah Rukh Khan a sureshot formula for success?

Shah Rukh Khan‘s Dear Zindagi is doing great business at the box office even after Kahaani 2’s release. It
definitely is an Alia Bhatt film but nobody can deny that the
superstar’s presence in it helped the film claim the heights it is
presently enjoying. That made us wonder, is SRK the lucky charm here?
Why we say so? Simple reasoning. Ae Dil Hai Mushkil too had him in just
one scene and we know what happened to that film!
Shah Rukh Khan released Fan early this year which was a disappointment. Despite giving one of the best performances in his career, the film failed him. Next came Dear Zindagi. Now we can’t really call it a cameo because he was present in major part of second half. To be honest, it was a relief to have SRK explain the life’s basics to Alia which we generally don’t see. He just uncomplicates a complicated situation for the actress with those pearls of wisdom and we fall for him more and more. His presence helped the film earn more than Rs. 8 crore on the first day despite getting 1200 screens. Sometimes an actor needs an able supporting cast and SRK was more than that for Alia in DZ. He made all his followers, displeased with Fan, really happy.
Now, let us tell you a few reasons why having SRK in a brief appearance helps the film make an impact.
