SHOCKING! Kapil Sharma may face upto 3 years in jail after a FIR is filed for illegal construction – view pics!
A FIR has been lodged against Kapil Sharma, who can face upto 3 years in jail for illegal constructions in his flat...
Looks like the comedian’s tweets have landed him in trouble…
Kapil Sharma made headlines a few days back when he tweeted to Narendra Modi slamming him about the corruption prevalent in the country. Apparently, a Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation officer had asked him for a bribe of Rs 5 lakh to grant him permission to construct his new office. Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis stepped in and assured him that swift action will be taken against the corrupt officer. However, after all this scenario, looks like Kapil Sharma has run into controversy himself as he faces upto 3 years in jail coz of this whole incident! No, it is not that he lied or something, its coz of the illegal construction found at his flat and his new office…The FIR has been lodged by P-South ward sub engineer Abhay Jagtap. It books Kapil and the other named flat owners under section 53 (7) of the Maharashtra Regional Town Planning Act (MRTP), 1966. This section deals with prosecuting flat owners for not complying with notices against unauthorized constructions. The conviction under this section invites a jail term varying from one month to three years and a fine of Rs 2,000-5,000.
The BMC has found major violations in a lot of flats in the building. It has also found that unauthorized work was carried out on the 9th floor of the building, where the host of The Kapil Sharma Show has a flat. It has listed a few unauthorized merger of elevation features, ducts, voids, common passage and part podium for parking. On July 12, the Oshiwara police had sought documents from the BMC to file an FIR, but they were furnished only on August 24. The FIR, however, was filed last night and we have obtained the copies too! Check em’ out here:
However, Mumbai Mirror reports that Kapil Sharma has sold the flat three to six months ago, a little after he got the notices for the illegal construction. But, the notice will continue to stay in his name, since the changes were made under his ownership. As a source in BMC told the tabloid, “Even if the flat’s been sold, the owner who made the changes is liable. He is supposed to restore it as per the approved plan or face prosecution.”
Anyway, what do you have to say about this whole scenario? Tell us in the comments section below!
