In this explosive interview with Huffington Post, Ms Bhatt puts forth this valid argument stating, “In India, you are a part of a society that’s very judgmental. Here, girls who have multiple boyfriends is still a huge deal and something that is frowned upon. I mean, look at Taylor Swift. She’s dated, like, everybody. But if she was here, she’d be totally shamed for making those choices. Her image and appeal would be very different. The reason actresses don’t talk about their private lives is because in our society there is a lot of slut-shaming. Eventually, I have a responsibility and I have to protect myself. It’s important that I am seen in a certain way, it’s just the way it is. Speculations about celebrities are commonplace but as long as it’s not coming from the horse’s mouth, you’re quite safe, so to speak”.
Well we decided to ask the Pink actresses if they agree with Alia’s thoughts. Now even Pink deals with the women being prejudiced and the trailer literally gives you goosebumps. So BollywoodLife met Taapse Pannu and the other two actresses Kriti Kulhari and Andrea Tariang to know their point of view. The ladies totally disagreed to Alia’s comment. Taapsee said, “ I don’t think being in relationship has got anything to having a loose character. I mean everyone has their opinion, I wouldn’t really say anything about her. I wouldn’t call that a mark of loose character”.
Taapsee further added, “I wouldn’t talk about my personal life ‘cos media wants to concentrate only on their relationship and they totally forget about their professional work. Only your personal life becomes headline.” Totally agreed. Everybody has a right to safeguard their personal life in their own way.
