Can the self proclaimed critics’ word be held accountable for anything?

Clashes in Bollywood are always ugly. Earlier nobody cared much and just released their films. But now, thanks to higher stakes getting a good release date has become more challenging than getting the right cast for a film. We have seen in last couple of years how clash between two films have brought out the worst in people. The Jab Tak Hai Jaan- Son of Sardaar clash bared the truth about the monopoly raj of legendary production houses in 2013. It was a nasty fight between Ajay Devgn and Yash Raj Films which also involved Shah Rukh Khan. We saw how after much mulling over, Shah Rukh decided to push Raees off to January next year to give Sultan a free run. And now we have Ae Dil Hai Mushkil‘s clash with Shivaay which will be nastier than ever.

Why we say so because the battle lines have already been drawn. Ajay posted a picture of him sleeping peacefully on a couch the day the teaser of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil released. He may not have hinted directly at it but it won’t be far fetched to think that it could be related to his reaction for the teaser. We thought such sly digs at each other will be all that we will get to see but yesterday night an audio clip leaked with Kamaal R Khan revealing that he has been paid Rs 25 lacs by Karan Johar to badmouth about Shivaay. The actor seems quite miffed with this “self proclaimed” movie critic, as he himself stated the same in his tweet. Post sharing this audio clip, Devgn sent out an official statement where he has expressed his displeasure over what just happened. The statement says, “I have been a part of the Indian film industry for the past 25 years and have been associated with over 100 films. My father was a professional action director and I have an emotional connection with this industry. It therefore pains me to see that people like Kamaal R Khan are holding the film industry to ransom by spreading negativity about films to extort money from producers. It is very sad that people from our own industry are supporting such elements and spoiling the ethos of the film industry. I would strongly demand that this be thoroughly investigated by competent authorities to clarify if Karan Johar was indeed involved in this.”
It’s good that he wants it get investigated but how credible is Kamaal R Khan’s claims. He is a person who has rubbed everyone the wrong way in last couple of years. He made Sidharth Malhotra lose his cool when he went very derogatory over Alia Bhatt, called names to Vikram Bhatt and Meera Chopra because of which he had to apologise at the end. He had also earlier claimed that Karan Johar paid him 25 lacs to give good review to Bombay Velvet. Anurag Kashyap refuted it all. So he is an habitual offender who likes to drop names for mileage. It looks more like a publicity stunt and the one gaining from of all this hoopla is KRK.
An industry insider even chimed in and said, “Had the audio clip leaked and made its way on the internet through a third party there would be more credibility to it. The timing of the leaks is also suspicious.”  And that’s not the only thing people are talking about. This is now an open war where both will put in their A-game to pull down the other. The first move has been made by Ajay and now the ball is in Karan’s court. People are of the opinion that he will have a befitting comeback to this. That could also be the reason why he is still silent about it.
Moreover, KRK’s press conference today makes it amply clear that he is doing this for mileage and nothing else. He claims of proofs that he can show regarding this tape and even did a U-turn on his comment by saying Ajay has also paid him money. So how credible are these claims?
Also, the audio clip clearly mentions that Kumar Mangat has agreed to pay him money so that he writes good things about Shivaay. So if Karan Johar has offered KRK money, so did Ajay. How is he clear in all this? We feel it will affect Ajay’s image a lot. It isn’t an one-sided tape at all and exposes Mangat’s intentions of buying out KRK’s views about Shivaay. Shouldn’t both be held responsible here? And if they are, why create such a ruckus Ajay. You are equally at fault. Isn’t it?
