This is one of the many first time pairings of Katrina Kaif. In the past as well, her fresh pairings with actors have been successful at the box office with the exception of Fitoor and Humko Deewana Kar Gaye of course. Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya?
This was the first time Katrina was paired opposite Salman Khan, though it’s Sushmita Sen’s character who gets to marry Salman at the end but she played his girlfriend for the larger part of the movie. The movie fared well at the box office and was a big relief to her then non-existent career. They later starred together in Yuvvraaj, Hello and Ek Tha Tiger. 
Humko Deewana Kar Gaye
Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif were once the most successful pair at the box office with films like Namastey London, Welcome, Singh is Kinng etc. But the first time when they were paired together on screen was this 2006 dud. Guess they were second time lucky.
New York
This was one good looking pair. John Abraham and Katrina Kaif complemented each other in this post 9/11 thriller. The movie also had a third love angle, one sided though, with Neil Nitin Mukesh. The movie worked well at the box office.
Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani
Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif’s chemistry and comic timing worked wonders at the box office. They later romanced in Raajneeti as well and both the times it worked for them. Now that they have broken up, it’ll be interesting to see them together in next year’s Jagga Jasoos.
Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara
This adventure movie had Hrithik Roshan as one of the leads and Katrina Kaif in an interesting role. Their chemistry looked very real. The film was a success and has a cult following now. They later were paired in Bang Bang, which was a 100 crore film.
Mere Brother Ki Dulhan
Imran Khan and Ali Zafar both were paired in this love triangle of sorts. The comedy film was a hit, but Imran and Katrina were never brought together again.
Jab Tak Hai Jaan
This Yash Chopra swan song had his favourite Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif paired together for the first time. The film was a success and if reports are to be believed, they’ll be next seen together in Aanand L Rai’s dwarf movie.
Dhoom 3
Katrina Kaif was paired opposite Aamir Khan in the third part of this blockbuster franchise. Though these movies are known for bikes and cool thieves, Katrina’s chemistry with Aamir Khan was noticed as well.
Fitoor
The first time pairing of Aditya Roy Kapoor and Katrina Kaif turned out to be disastrous at the box office. Nothing worked for this dark romantic adaptation of The Great Expectations.
So far, apart from two instances, her fresh pairing has worked at the box office. And come September 9, she’ll be seen for the first time with Sidharth Malhotra, we just hope that adds to the likes of New York, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and not Humko Deewana Kar Gaye and Fitoor.
