Another BIG clash is on its way…

After Akshay Kumar’s Rustom clashed with Hrithik Roshan’s Mohenjo Daro this year, next year will see Akshay’s Crack directed by Neeraj Pandey clashing with Shah Rukh’s untitled film directed by Imtiaz Ali. Says a trade source, “While Crack has announced its release date on Independence Day next year, now another imminent clash is on the cards — Imtiaz Ali’s next with Shah Rukh and Anushka Sharma. While Imtiaz is currently shooting with his lead pair in Prague, Akshay is busy completing his other commitments. It will be interesting to see what happens on this one.”
Akshay Kumar’s recent movie clash with Hrithik Roshan ended in favour of him. While Hrithik’s Mohenjo Daro tanked at the box-office, Akshay’s Rustom struck gold. Taran Adarsh tweeted the second weekend collections of both the films and there’s marked difference. While Rustom went past the 100 crore mark by earning 108. 02 cr, Mohenjo Daro just managed a paltry 55. 06 crore. Akshay’s thriller posted really good numbers on its second Friday (4.41 cr) and followed it up with even better numbers on Saturday (5.77 cr) and Sunday (6.94 cr) while Hrithik’s period love saga just slumped and slumped. Since then it has been Rustom all the way and now after the second weekend, Rustom has managed a smashing 108. 02 cr while Mohenjo Daro is at 55. 06 cr.
Rustom and Mohenjo Daro‘s contest was bound to appreciate one and annihilate the other. Yes, there have been times when both the flick at the BO  have made quite a pretty chunk of money but this clash course was bound to leave one of them badly bruised. And it turned out to be Hrithik Roshan‘s film which took the beating here. His love story set in our oldest human civilisation failed to appeal to anyone.
Here is the story how Akshay got hold of the title Crack which was already registered with someone else. The actor wanted that title for his film, but unfortunately it was already registered with actor-producer Sachiin Joshi. So, Akshay reached out to Sachiin for the title. Akshay was even willing to pay for it, but Sachiin gave it away without taking a penny. Incidentally, the two share an interesting history. A few years ago, Akshay was to do a film with Karan Johar called Gutka Wars. At that time too, Karan didn’t have the rights to the title, which coincidentally was also with Sachiin, who gave it to KJo, but the film never got made. This time, while giving away the title, Crack, Sachiin was hoping that the film will get made at least this time. Well, there shouldn’t be any worry on that account as the film has not only been announced, Akshay has even revealed that the film will be a 2017, Independence Day release.
