 This week Bollywood had its fair share of newsmakers, be it Shah Rukh Khan‘s casting related controversy in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati, Salman Khan promoting Baar Baar Dekho and Freaky Ali, Katrina Kaif’s casting in Aanand L Rai’s next with SRK, Rekha’s controversial biography and Amitabh Bachchan’s revelation on Deepika Padukone’s pay check. Real reason for Shah Rukh Khan not signing Padmavati revealed
When SRK was pitched Padmavati to play the role of Raja Ratan Singh, there were reports that SRK wanted the title to be changed as Padmavati made it look like more of a female oriented movie. But BollywoodLife exclusively revealed the real reason why Shah Rukh Khan didn’t sign the movie. A source told us, SRK wasn’t keen to do the second lead so he ignored it very smartly. The source said, “SRK who is busy with number of projects doubled his fee to reject the role. Now he is one of the highest paid actors and his demand was too huge for the film and so that didn’t happen”. Yes! Also there were was a strong buzz that due to Ranveer Singh’s tantrums SLB even approached SRK to play the lead Allauddin Khilji, but all that never happened and it was just a baseless rumour.
Salman Khan promoted Baar Baar Dekho and Freaky Ali on Twitter
Salman Khan produced Freaky Ali released on September 9 and so did Katrina Kaif starrer Baar Baar Dekho. Salman took to Twitter and posted a video where he is seen singing Kaala Chasma, the hit track from Baar Baar Dekho and reciting Freaky Ali’s famous ‘Chaddi’ dialogue. It’s interesting to see Salman Khan promoting another movie which is a direct competition to his own. Is it because of Katrina Kaif?
Amitabh Bachchan revealed Deepika Padukone was paid more than him for Piku
During an exclusive interview with BollywoodLife Sr Bachchan revealed that his paycheck was lesser than Deepika Padukone’s. He said,  “I dunno if this is relevant or not. Whether coz of circumstances this has happened but I can tell you one thing, in Piku, Deepika Padukone was paid more than me and that says two things – one that she is obviously more important than me and two I have lost my price tag coz I have been working for so long. Maybe I am not so important.” Director Shoojit Sircar who present with Bachchan, clarified the news and said “But I think what’s the harm? If the woman’s character is that then it’s okay. For example, everybody asked me if it’s( Piku) a woman centric film. I said why? Coz a woman has a stronger character that’s why it’s a woman centric film. But there are many films with only heroes but that is not man centric film. So don’t see a film like coz there’s a woman’s pic on the poster it’s a woman centric film. It’s cinema, a film a story. She is the hero of the film and that’s how you should see it.” This gives an interesting twist to the debate of gender inequality in Bollywood.
Rekha’s controversial revelations in her biography
In a new biography titled Rekha The Untold Story, written by Yasser Usman, a whole lot of revelations are made by the author about the actress including her alleged romance with Amitabh Bachchan. There were reports that Jaya has barred Amitabh from working with Rekha ever again, after Muqqadar Ka Sikandar. Amitabh agreed. In a controversial interview carried by Stardust in 1978 Rekha made some explosive revelations. Rekha says that she was hurt by Amitabh’s decision not to work with her but it was Jaya who faced her anger. “At an award function some time ago, I’d recited a few lines. Everyone imagined they were meant for him. But actually, it was for her,” said Rekha. She recited the lines in the interview: “I looked at you, you turned your face away. Why? You feel you are badly off, but can’t you see my position is worse? There is deep hurt in your gaze, but can’t you see that the wounds in my heart are deeper than your look?”
The book mentioned the time when Rekha’s husband committed suicide, people from Industry like Anupam Kher and Subhash Ghai slammed her. Famous director Subhash Ghai said Rekha has put such a blot on the face of the film industry… No conscientious director will work with her ever again. While Anupam Kher, reportedly called her a national vamp! He said, “She’s become the national vamp. Professionally and personally, I think it’s curtains down for her. I mean I don’t know how will I react to her if I come face to face with her.”
Deepika Padukone irked by Aanand L Rai for locking Katrina Kaif opposite SRK
As reported by BollywoodLife earlier, Katrina Kaif has bagged the role opposite SRK in Aanand L Rai’s next but looks like this casting coup didn’t go down too well with Deepika Padukone, who was also considered for the role. Initially Rai was very much keen on having DP as his lead since he never really worked with her plus with so much talent, it would be quite a spectacle to watch. However, the diva cited date issue and said that most of her schedule was set aside for her Hollywood outings, due to which she wouldn’t be able to hop in on this project. Now you may think it ended right there but no. As soon as reports of Kat being locked for this project started doing the rounds, DP instantly started making frantic calls and demanded why wasn’t she asked again as she wrapped up her Hollywood projects already! Well there nothing really known about the movie apart from the fact that SRK will be playing a dwarf in the movie. And the movie is up for 2018 Christmas release. We’ll wait for the official announcements to know the actual details about the movie.
