Wait, so it wasn’t Kangana but Deepika whom Kat beat to bag a role opposite King Khan?

Shah Rukh Khan will forever be on demand, no denying that. While we’re very much aware of his next or should we say first, with Aanand L Rai will be releasing in 2018 (yeah, they’ve already shared the release year!), did you guys know that his love interest would be Katrina Kaif? It’s not just SRK who is in demand but Miss Kaif as well! Earlier, we had reported on how Kat beat Kangana Ranaut into bagging a film opposite King Khan. But we may have been wrong there because a leading tabloid has just stated that it was Deepika Padukone, whom, the director was keen on bringing onboard but she cited date issues and declined it!

At least that’s how it was supposed to be. A very interesting article pasted in today’s issue of a leading tabloid had a small segment spared for this piece of news! Turns out Rai was very much keen on having DP as his lead since he never really worked with her plus with so much talent, it would be quite a spectacle to watch. However, the diva cited date issue and said that most of her schedule was rest aside for her Hollywood outings, due to which she wouldn’t be able to hop in on this project. Now you may think it ended right there but no. As soon as reports of Kat being locked for this project started doing the rounds, DP instantly started making frantic calls and demanded not being asked again as she wrapped up her Hollywood projects already!

We already know the kind of equation that DP and Kat share considering they have a rather harsh past to deal with. In fact, even professionally they have been at loggerheads, due to which, maybe this news was a little too bitter for Miss Padukone to digest. Apparently, L Rai was baffled by her statement of having wrapped up her Hollywood committments as there is no way he would’ve got a hint of the same. Since he was unaware of her schedule and he didn’t want to cast Kangana in this project, Rai went ahead with casting Katrina Kaif. It seems now the XXX: The Return of Xander Cage actress will have everyone know that it was a project that she rejected that Katrina Kaif landed with.

Wow. Talk about rivalry, this one is quite severe, don’t you think? Well, for all those wondering why he didn’t want Kangana onboard, “Kangana is invested in a film beyond her own responsibility. She likes to collaborate on the script, costume and other departments. And Aanand had become uncomfortable with that even in Tanu Weds Manu Returns. He appreciates that she wants to be involved every step of the way, but he doesn’t want to risk casting two headstrong personalities like Shah Rukh Khan and Kangana in the same film,” said an insider.
