Deepika Padukone already a part of Vin Diesel’s xXx: Return of Xander Cage sequel?
This week, Deepika Padukone will be making her Hollywood debut with xXx: Return of Xander Cage. As every action junkie knows, the movie is a part of the xXx franchise that established its leading star, Vin Diesel as a bonafide action star way back in 2002. The sequel, xXx: State of the Union, didn’t star Vin Diesel, whose character was reported to be killed offscreen, making way for Ice Cube to play the stuntman agent. The movie was a huge disappointment. Now years later, after making mega bucks over the continuous success of The Fast and the Furious franchise, Vin Diesel returns to the series that made him the real star as his character Xander Cage miraculously returns back from the dead. Deepika Padukone plays the leading lady, a kickass thief with some real fighting skills and who goes by the name Serena Unger. The latest movie is directed by DJ Caruso, known for his movies like Disturbia and Eagle Eye.
Both Deepika and Vin Diesel, along with the director, are currently in Mumbai promoting their movie, ahead of its release here. Vin Diesel as well as DJ Caruso are here for a two day visit, and they are holding a red carpet premiere for the celebs here. Before that there was an interactive sessions with the media, where Vin Diesel couldn’t stop pouring praises for his Indian co-star. When he was asked whether he would like to work with Deepika again, he replied he wants to have her in the next installment of xXx.
DJ Caruso also revealed that they are planning to make the sequel next May, so if that happens expect Deepika to missy our on Bollywood in 2018. If they really cast her in the sequel, we can say she is luckier than the heroine of the first film, Asia Argento, who is seen nowhere in the sequel.
xXx: Return of Xander Cage also stars Samuel L Jackson, Ruby Rose, Nina Dobrev, Tony Jaa, Toni Collette and Donnie Yen. The movie is scheduled to release in India on January 14, ahead of its US release.
