Deepika Padukone finally REACTS to the attack on Padmavati director Sanjay Leela Bhansali

The controversial attack on director Sanjay Leela Bhansali on the sets of Padmavati has not only left B-town fuming but also the cast of the film. As reported, a local organisation going by the name Karni Sena, created a havoc on the sets of the film in Jaigarh fort by vandalising it. The National award winning director was also assaulted by the crowd who beat him and tore his clothes. Deepika Padukone has finally reacted! The actress has confirmed that there is absolutely no distortion of facts in their period drama and is in a state of shock over whatever has happened in Jaipur. “In a state of shock!deeply saddened and disheartened by yesterday’s events!#Padmavati” her tweet stated. She assured that there is no distortion of facts, “As Padmavati I can assure you that there is absolutely no distortion of history.#Padmavati” And concluded the tweet with, “Our only endeavour is & has always been to share with the world the story of this courageous & powerful woman in the purest form there is.”

For the second schedule of Padmavati shooting, all the actors were all set to join the director at Jaipur. Just yesterday, the female protagonist of the film, Deepika, had returned from USA, after completing promotions for her Hollywood debut, xXx: Return of Xander Cage. It was reported that the diva will mostly start shooting for the film on January 29, according to the Twitter handle of Bhansali production. All three actors were supposed to assemble for the second schedule at the Pink city. However, with this incident that has occurred, the location might be changed. DNA has reported, “Yes, according to recent reports, Bhansali has called off Padmavati shooting in Jaipur and is on his way back home. Although there have been no statement from Bhansali or his team, we are waiting to hear from them soon.”

The Film and Television Prodcuer’s Guild of India have also reacted asking the government of India as well as the State government of Rajasthan to intervene in this assault case. In their statement to media, they said, “The assault which happened on the sets of filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film ‘Padmavati’ at Jaipur is extremely unfortunate, deplorable and totally unacceptable to the Indian film industry. The Film & Television Producers Guild of India Ltd. (“Guild”) in unison with the entire film fraternity strongly condemns this despicable episode and expresses its absolute and unflinching support to Sanjay Leela Bhansali.”

Industry folks have also showcased their support and raised this matter on social media. This is not the first time that the filmmaker has received flak for his work, however, this recent incident is downright disgusting. The industry folks such as Sonam Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Karan Johar, Farhan Akhtar and many more have raised their concerns and asked for strict and immediate action to be taken against the individuals responsible for the vandalism. According to reports, the activists of the local organisation, Karni Sena, are protesting against allegedly distorting the historical facts in the period drama. They claimed that Ranveer Singh recently mentioned about a love-making dream sequence between Alauddin Khilji and Rani Padmavati (played by Deepika Padukone). While the rumours were quashed by the CEO of Bhansali productions, the report was used as a means to attack the filmmaker, who was peacefully doing his work.
