Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil or Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees – which is your pick at the theaters?

Today is a big day for all the movie buffs as two of the biggest Bollywood releases – Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees and Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil clash at the box office. Although both the stars are trying to calm down the tension by tweeting good wishes to each other where Hrithik even initiated the sweetest gesture this morning by saying, “Dear @iamsrk today as a mentor I m sure you will inspire me yet again with #Raaes and as a student I hope you are proud of me with #Kaabil.” But obviously, that doesn’t justify the box office. Audience is going to stand divided, people will pick sides where for some it will be ‘Hail Hrithik’ while the remaining will root for Shah Rukh’s Raees no matter how good/bad the film is. But yet, we wanna know whose side are you on? Are you planning to watch Hrithik’s Kaabil or Shah Rukh’s Raees? Let me give you a quick gist on both the movie reviews before you claim your pick:

Ratings: 4 stars
What is it about?
In Kaabil, Hrithik plays Rohan Bhatnagar – a visually impaired guy who doesn’t let his shortcoming become his identity. He decides to marry Supriya (Yami Gautam) who too is blind and they both dream of buying the ideal house and living a normal life. Things turn bad when a local politician Madhav Shelar (Ronit Roy) and his brother cast their evil eyes on Rohan and Supriya’s love story. From this point onwards, Kaabil becomes a revenge drama, one man’s fight to dish out his own justice to those who did wrong to his loved one.
Our verdict
Kaabil is Hrithik Roshan‘s career best performance. Watch and marvel at what can easily be termed as the finest performance to come out of Bollywood in a long time.
Ratings: 2.5 stars
What is it about?
Raees Alam (Shah Rukh Khan) is an Arun Gawli-like criminal and bootlegger based in Fatehpur, Gujarat. From childhood itself, he had a knack for illegal liquor business, and when he grows up, his love for Dhanda gets him into crossroads, first with his mentor (Atul Kulkarni), and later with ACP Majmudar (Nawazuddin Siddiqui). With his best friend and confidante (Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub) and his lover and later wife (Mahira Khan) by his side, Raees sets along to build his empire in Fatehpur. But as the history of civilisations goes, empires get built and fall, sometimes within a day.
Our Verdict
As a movie, Raees is definitely a letdown especially for those who expect a Deewar-like dhamakedaar masala movie. Fans of Shah Rukh Khan might give the movie its huge initial but don’t expect the road ahead to be a smooth ride. And warning for all superstars – acting with Nawazuddin Siddiqui is injurious to your own dramatic talents – he can steal your glory right from under your nose.
