Aishwarya Rai Bachchan schooled David Letterman for disrespecting Indian culture – watch video

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was one of the first Indian actresses to get global recognition.
She had done quite a few international films like Bride and
Prejudice with Martin Henderson, The Last Legion with Colin Firth
and The Pink Panther 2 with Steve Martin. But did you know she was
offered Troy alongside Brad Pitt, which she had refused then due to her
inhibition about doing intimate scenes in the film. During that
international stint of hers, she was called a guest on quite a few
popular chat shows. One of them was, David Letterman’s The David
Letterman Show way back in 2005. Unlike these days, international
audience was still discovering India as a country and had those common
stereotypes about it.
During her interaction with David Letterman, she was asked about the different languages spoken in India and also if it’s true that she still lives with her parents like many other grown ups in India, sarcastically. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan very gently schooled him saying, “It’s fine to live with your parents, because It’s also common in India, we don’t have to take appointments from the parents to meet for dinner.” This obviously evoked laughter among the studio audiences and David Letterman was left tight lipped as he didn’t expect Aishwarya to respond in such a sarcastic way. But Aishwarya Rai Bachchan proved no one messes with her, especially when it comes to defending the honour of her country at an international level.

In the video she was also asked about languages she can speak and she revealed that she knows four languages Hindi (which is not India’s national language, as mentioned by her in the video), Tulu, Marathi and little bit of Tamil.Never forget when Aishwarya Rai put David Letterman in his place for disrespecting Indian culture 🙌🏽 pic.twitter.com/2ae0LOxwls— Brown Saraah (@Brown_Saraah) January 4, 2017
