After Jodha Akbar, Rajat Tokas is back with a new show on Star Plus called Chandranandini where Shweta Basu Prasad will be playing princess Nandini. The first look of the show with Shweta Prasad has been unveiled. The show will be replace Siya Ke Ram which wraps up this October. The show is about the Mauryan King Chandragupta Maurya.
Shweta Basu Prasad had been in news recently when she was allegedly involved in the Hyderabad scandal. She started her career with TV serials like Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki and did films like Makdee and Iqbal as a child actress. She, later, went on to doing many Telugu films and was arrested in 2014 in a hotel in Hyderabad during a prostitution raid. She spent two months at a home for youth involved in human trafficking and was then released. Ekta Kapoor decided to take Shweta under her wings and resurrect her career and is launching her in Chandranandini. Shweta is also doing Badrinath ki Dulhania with Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt.
The show Chandranandini will be shot in real locations of Patna and a huge set has been created in Mumbai. Rajat has already started shooting for the show. This would be his second show after Jodha Akbar . Though he also did a cameo in Naagin as a Nevla. Rajat also started his career as a child artist in shows like Prithvi Raj Chauhan and did shows like Dharam Veer, Sai Baba, Tere Liye, Bandini, Keshav Pandit and Fear Files. His claim to fame as an adult star was when he played emperor Akbar in Zee TV’s Jodha Akbar. Rajat got married to his girlfriend Shristi Nayyar last year in January.
Though this is not the first time Chandragupta Maurya story will be shown on TV. Imagine TV had shot Chandragupta Maurya in 2011 with Ashish Sharma in the lead. According to the story, Chandragupta was a warrior from Magadh who ruled the Indian subcontinent in 300 BC. So Chandranandini will be the Emperor’s love story with a fictional background.
We can’t wait for to catch the promo of the show!
